기자와 어릿광대의 대화 중....

기자 : What ever made you decide to become a clown?

         (왜 광대가 되기로 하셨나요?)

어릿광대 : Because I'm so sad. (슬프기 때문이죠)

기자 : I thought clowns were happy and gay.

         (광대는 행복하고 즐거울 거라 생각했는데...)

어릿광대 : Oh, no.  We're the saddest people in the world.  That's why we try to make other people laugh.  It helps us forget our own loneliness.

(천만에요. 우리는 세상에서 가장 슬픈사람들이예요. 그래서 다른사람들을 웃기려하죠. 그렇게 하면서 자신의 슬픔과 외로움을 좀 잊어버릴 수 있으니까요.)
