9 마리의 북미산 흰 두루미들이 29일 일리노이주 위니배고 카운티 서부지역의 한 벌판 상공에서 초경량기를 따라 남쪽으로 이주 비행하고 있다. 실험실에서 부화해 위스콘신주 네세다 국립 야생생물 보호구역에서 길러진 약 18마리의 희귀 두루미들이 4대의 초경량기의 인도하에 남쪽으로 비행하고 있다. 이들 흰 두루미는 이주 습성이 붙도록 플로리다까지 초경량기들을 따라 날아가는 훈련을 받아왔다. 사람들은 이들 흰 두루미가 봄이 되면 제 스스로 이 길을 따라 되돌아 오기를 바라고 있다
