유리하다고 교만하지말고
불리 하다고 비굴하지말라
자기가 아는대로 진실만을 말하고,
주고 받는 말마다, 악을 막아 듣는이에게
사랑과 기쁨을 주어라.

무엇을 들었다고, 쉽게 행동하지 말고,
그것이 사실인지 깊에 생각하여
이치가 명확할떄 과감히 행동하라
이기심을 채우고자 정의를 등지지 말고
원망으로 갚지 말라.

벙어리처럼 침묵하고, 임금님처럼 말하며
눈처럼 냉정하고 불처럼 뜨거워라.

태산같은 자부심을 갖고
누은 풀처럼 자신을 낮추어라

역경을 참아 이겨내고,
천천히 잘 풀릴때를 조심하라
재물을 오물처럼 볼줄알고
커지는 분노를 잘 다스려라

때로는 맘껏 풍류를 즐기고
사슴처럼 두려워 할줄 알고
호랑이 처럼 무섭고, 사나워라.

때와 처지를 살필줄 알고,
고귀와 쇠망이 교차함을 알라.

이것이 지혜로운 이의 삶이니라...

Even though your life is profitable,
Don’t be arrogant.
Even though you’re at a disadvantage,
Don’t complain.
Always tell the truth, up to what you know.
Whether you receive words or speak words,
Stop evil and give love and happiness to others.

Whatever you hear, don’t put into action easily.
Think deeply to find truth
When things are reasonable and clear,
Act and move bravely.
Don’t turn against righteousness to fulfill your selfishness,
Don’t hold a grudge against anyone and anything.

Be silent as a deaf person,
But speak like a king when spoken.
Be cold like snow and be hot like fire.

Be proud like the high mountain,
But lower yourself like the lying grass.

Be patient with a difficult situation, and over come it.
Be careful when everything goes well.
And have eyes that can look at property like filth,
Control your growing anger.

At times, enjoy a poetical life,
But be cautious like a deer,
and fierce like a tiger.

Be able to adapt to different times and situations.
Recognize that success and failure intersect one another.

This is the life of a person who lives in wisdom.
