GD’s sold out concert. 15,000 people. sold out show and screaming that made me go deaf. jk. a great audience esp, the 2nd day. the show was great!! fun, funny, exciting are just a few of the things the concert brought forward.

i really like what this dude has to offer, its like he’s got a bunch of personalities and plays each part really well. from rapping, to singing, to dancing, acting and creating something thats challenging for him. i appreciate artists that push themselves because i do the same. even if people like it or not…..if its violent, or too sexy, or to weird its up to me to challenge who i am as an artist. push the envelope and create because this is what we live for. if i just created what people wanted….then i think i would stop. i dont think i could enjoy just making other people happy, you can’t make everyone happy!! thats why i believe in just doing you! and i feel like thats what he does. i respect that! if people didnt like my stuff then just stop watching……ha and if my stuff was too edgy for kids then its really up to the parents to be responsible for what their children are watching, or what concerts they go to. lol (if you didn’t know, im hinting towards a certain situation)

at the end of the day, we are artists. create and grow, do you! in my opinion, homie is an entertainer, that what he does. and to me….he did just that! good show. good job to you too aims, i wouldn’t expect any less of the work you did. glad you executed well and did the job as it was told to look like, thats what a professional is.

anyway, i had a good time watching from the sidelines. proud to have my choreography in the show. if anything i just wish there was more time to get things worked out a little more, you know develop the ideas more. all good, its the nature of the biz.

난 지디가 보여줄 수 있는 것을 정말 좋아해, 그건 마치 그가 여러개의 인격을 가지고 있고 그것들을 적절하게 사용할 수 있는 것 같이 보여. 랩핑, 노래, 춤, 연기 그리고 자기에게 어려운 것들을 더 만들어 내는 그런 능력. 나는 자기자신을 더 채찍질 하는 아티스트들이 좋아, 왜냐면 나도 그렇거든. 사람들이 좋아하건 좋아하지 않건... 그게 폭력적이건 너무 섹시하건, 아니면 이상하건 간에 내가 아티스트로서의 정체성을 시험하는 거니까. 나만의 세계에서 창작하는거, 그게 우리가 사는 삶의 이유. 사람들이 원하는 것들만 만들어 낸다면, 난 그냥 그만두는게 낫겠지. 그냥 사람들을 행복하게 하는 것만으로 내가 즐길 수 있다고 생각하지 않아, 모든 사람을 만족시킬 순 없잖아! 그게 왜 내 자신을 표출하는 것에 믿음을 갖고 있는지야, 그리고 그게 지디가 하고 있는 거라고 생각해, 그리고 그거 리스펙트하고. 사람들이 내가 하는것을 좋아하지 않는다면, 그냥 그만보면 되잖아. 그리고 내것들이 아가들한테 너무 엣지있게 (어렵게/선정적이라고 쓰일수도 있겠군) 보여준다면 부모가 애들좀 잡아야 하는거 아님, 콘서트 가는것도 말이야. 쳐웃음 (아 지금도 감을 못잡았다면 어느 시츄에이션에 대해 말하고 있는거야)


하루가 끝나고 나면, 우린 그냥 아티스트일 뿐이야. 창작하고, 더 자라고. 내 생각에는 지디는 엔터테이너고 거기에 걸맞게 하고 있어. 나한테는 그렇게 보여. 에이미, 너도 정말 잘했어, 네가 한것에서 조금이라도 덜 기대하지 않았거든. 제대로 공연한거에 대해 기쁘고, 연습한 대로 한 것, 정말 프로페셔날이야.


아무튼 난 옆쪽에서 공연 보면서 만족했어. 내 안무가 쇼에 사용된거에 자부심을 느껴. 더 바랄게 있다면 시간이 좀더 있어서 더 완벽한 안무 그리고 더 많은 아이디어를 짜낼 수 있는 시간. 하지만 다 좋아. 뭐 사는게 이렇지 뭐.

“I was shocked when I heard what was happening,” Aimee says.
"난 무슨일이 일어나고 있는지 듣고서 상당히 놀랐다."라고 에이미가 말했다.

“We performed two shows on a Saturday and Sunday.
우린 토요일과 일요일에 걸쳐 두개의 쇼를 했다.

All the VIPs and big people came out on Saturday and no one said anything.
모든 VIP팬들과 큰인물들이 토요일공연에 왔는데 아무도 뭐라고 하지 않았다.

During rehearsals, no one told us we were going too far and should hold back. So the reaction was surprising.”
리허설 도중에도 누구도 우리에게 선을 넘겼다던지, 좀 자제하는게 좋겠다고 얘기해주지않았다. 그래서 리액션이 더 놀라웠다.

Initially, the internet comments directed at “the dancer in the number” were critical (“what is that girl thinking doing that?”),
처음엔, 인터넷 댓글들은 댄서를 향해 비판했다. ("쟤는 도대체 무슨생각으로 저런거야?")

but once Aimee was identified as the dancer, most of the negative comments stopped.
하지만 에이미가 댄서라는 사실이 밝혀지고 부정적은 댓글들은 멈췄다.

In fact, during the whole controversy, everyone associated with the number from G-Dragon to YG has been targeted and vilified
—except Aimee who is not facing any of the charges, fines or jail time.

“I think it’s because I’m American,” she says.

When she first started performing in Korea, Aimee was surprised by the rabid, (very) young and female fan base of the K-Pop acts
who would appear in the form of large mobs everywhere she and the musicians went.

“When I became the lead dancer opposite Tae Yang, people joked with me that they were surprised I wasn’t dead,” she says,

“that the fans didn’t come after me with pitchforks for doing what they all dreamed of doing with him.”

To understand the controversy, one must first understand the K-Pop scene.

G-Dragon is its Justin Timberlake—pursuing a solo career to explore more “adult” subject matter.
빅뱅이 만약 천진난만하고 십대들이 좋아할 음악들로 한국의 엔싱크라고 치면, 지드래곤은 저스틴 팀버레이크와 같다.
솔로활동을 추구하며 조금더 성숙된 음악과 주제를 탐험하는점이 말이다.

His first solo album “Heartbreaker” was deemed inappropriate for children because of the lyrical content of several songs like “She’s Gone” (sample offensive lyric: “If I can’t have you, I’ll kill you.”).
그의 첫 솔로 앨범 "하트브레이커"는 쉬즈곤처럼 (예를들어, "내가 널 가질수 없으면 널 죽이겠어") 몇몇곡의 가사내용이 청소년에게 부적당하다고 간주되어 청소년유해물로 판정되었다.

The songs are pretty tame by our standards; the content of an American pop song like Justin Timberlake’s “Rock Your Body” is downright pornographic compared to G-Dragon’s music (and I’m sure G-Dragon won’t be doing the Korean equivalent of this anytime soon).

But because of the concert controversy, a new “investigation” has also been launched regarding the appropriateness of his album.
하지만 이번 콘서트의 논쟁으로 인해 그의 앨범의 적합성을 새로 수사하는 일이 벌어졌다.

Before the first creative meeting for the concert, Aimee was already thinking of ideas for the different numbers.
콘서트의 첫 아이디어 회의 전부터 에이미는 여러가지 공연아이디어를 생각해놓고 있었다.

Since the imagery of a bed was so strong in “Breathe,” she thought it would make sense to incorporate that into the piece.
브리드라는 곡에 침대의 이미지가 강렬했기 때문에 그녀는 그 퍼포먼스에 침대를 넣는것이 맞을거라 생각했다.

“At the meeting, G-Dragon had pretty much the same idea to do something around a stand-up bed,” she says.

“He likes to let loose and push boundaries. Everyone agreed so that’s what we worked on.”

“There was no humping,” she continues. “If you watch the (footage), the whole bit lasts only a few seconds.

He straddles me for a bit, we do some ‘acting’ and then we’re done.

Aimee thinks the controversy erupted because the first images to be posted online were photos of her hanging from the bed straddling G-Dragon with her legs wrapped around him which could be misinterpreted when seen out of context.
에이미는 인터넷에 올라온 첫사진이 그녀가 침대에 매달려 두다리로 지드래곤을 감싸고 있는 사진, 즉 그 실제 정황 밖에서 보여졌을때 오해의 소지가 있는 사진이라 논쟁이 쏟아졌다고 생각한다.

By the time video footage from the concert hit the web a few days later, the damage had already been done.
몇일후 콘서트의 직캠이 인터넷에 올라왔을땐 이미 damage는 행해졌다.

Since she left for America right after the concert, she hasn’t talked to G-Dragon about the incident but has heard from others at YG that he seems to be doing fine.
그녀는 콘서트 직후 미국으로 돌아왔기에 지드래곤과 이 사건에 대해 이야기해보지 못했지만 와이지에 있는 사람들을 통해 그는 잘지내고 있다고 전해들었다.



So is it just me or is this a ridiculous attempt by an artist-unfriendly government led by President Lee Myung-bak (who derogatorily referred to filmmakers as “hippies”) to make an example of a pop star in the name of family values?
