THE INTERVIEW WITH GOD 하나님과의 인터뷰 I dreamed I had an interview with God. 난 하나님과 인터뷰를 하는 꿈을 꾸었습니다. "So you would like to interview me??" God asked. 하나님이 "그러니까 나를 인터뷰 하고 싶단 말이지??"라 고 물으셨습니다. "If you have the time?" I said. 난 "시간이 있으시다면요"라고 대답했습니다. God smiled. "My time is eternity. What questions do you have in mind for me?" 하나님은 방긋 웃으시면서 말씀하셨습니다. "내 시간은 영원하단다. 너가 나에게 하고 싶은 질문들이 뭐지?" "What surprises you most about humankind?" 인류의 어떤 부분이 당신을 가장 놀라게 하나요?" God answered... 하나님이 대답하시길... "That they get bored with childhood, they rush to grow up, and then long to be children again. "어린시절에 지루해져서 빨리 성장하기를 서두르더니 다시 어린 아이가 됬으면 하며 그리워하는 것. "That they lose their health to make money... and then they lose their money to restore their health. "돈을 벌기 위해 건강을 잃어버리고... 다시 건강을 되찾기 위해 돈을 잃어버리는 것. "That by thinking anxiously about the future, they forget the present, such that they live in neither the present nor the future. "미래만 불안하게 생각하는 바람에 현재를 잊어버리고 그럼으로 인해 현재도 미래도 아닌 어정쩡한 곳에서 살아가는 것. "That they live as if they will never die, and die as though they had never lived." "절대로 죽지 않을 것처럼 살다가, 결국 하루도 살아보지 못한 것처럼 죽는 것." God's hand took mine and we were silent for a while. 하나님의 손이 내 손을 쥐으시고 우리는 한동안 침묵했다. And then I asked... 그리고 그때 내가 물었다.... "As a parent, what are some of life's lessons you want your children to learn??" "부모로서 당신의 자녀들이 배웠으면 하는 인생의 교훈들 은 어떤 것이 있을까요??" "To learn they cannot make anyone love them. All they can do is let themselves be loved. "다른 사람들이 자기 자신을 사랑하게 만들 수는 없으며, 그들이 할 수 있는 것이란 자기 자신들이 사랑받도록 하는 것. "To learn that it is not good to compare themselves to others. "자기 자신을 다른 이들과 비교하는 것은 안좋다는 것. "To learn to forgive by practicing forgiveness. "관용을 실천함으로 남을 용서할 줄 알게 되는 것. "To learn that it only takes a few seconds to open profound wounds in those they love, and it can take many years to heal them. "오직 몇초의 시간만으로도 그들이 사랑하는 사람들에게 깊은 상처를 남겨 줄 수 있지만, 그 상처를 치유하기 위해 서는 수년의 시간이 필요할 수도 있다는 것. "To learn that a rich person is not one who has the most, but is one who needs the least. "부자란 가장 많은 것을 가진 사람이 아니라 필요한 것이 가장 적은 사람이라는 것 "To learn that there are people who love them dearly, but simply have not yet learned how to express or show their feelings. "그저 아직 그 감정들을 보이거나 표현하는 법을 배우지 못했을 뿐, 그들을 지극히 사랑해주는 사람들이 있다는 것. "To learn that two people can look at the same thing and see it differently. "두사람이 같은 것을 볼지라도 서로 다르게 볼 수 있다는 것. "To learn that it is not enough that they forgive one another, but they must also forgive themselvs." "그저 서로를 용서하는 것만으로는 부족하며, 자기 자신이 스스로를 용서해야 한다는 것을 배웠으면 한다." "Thank you for your time," I said humbly. 나는 "시간을 내주셔서 감사합니다."라고 겸손히 인사했다. "Is there anything else you would like your children to know?" "그외에 당신의 자녀들이 알았으면 하는 것이 있나요?" 하나님과의 인터뷰
I dreamed I had an interview with God.
난 하나님과 인터뷰를 하는 꿈을 꾸었습니다.
"So you would like to interview me??" God asked.
하나님이 "그러니까 나를 인터뷰 하고 싶단 말이지??"라
고 물으셨습니다.
"If you have the time?" I said.
난 "시간이 있으시다면요"라고 대답했습니다.
God smiled. "My time is eternity. What questions do you
have in mind for me?"
하나님은 방긋 웃으시면서 말씀하셨습니다. "내 시간은
영원하단다. 너가 나에게 하고 싶은 질문들이 뭐지?"

인류의 어떤 부분이 당신을 가장 놀라게 하나요?"
God answered...
하나님이 대답하시길...

God's hand took mine and we were silent for a while.
하나님의 손이 내 손을 쥐으시고 우리는 한동안 침묵했다.
And then I asked...
그리고 그때 내가 물었다....
"As a parent, what are some of life's lessons you want your
children to learn??"
"부모로서 당신의 자녀들이 배웠으면 하는 인생의 교훈들
은 어떤 것이 있을까요??"
"To learn they cannot make anyone love them. All they can
do is let themselves be loved.
"다른 사람들이 자기 자신을 사랑하게 만들 수는 없으며,
그들이 할 수 있는 것이란 자기 자신들이 사랑받도록 하는
것.
"To learn that it is not good to compare themselves to others.
"자기 자신을 다른 이들과 비교하는 것은 안좋다는 것.

"관용을 실천함으로 남을 용서할 줄 알게 되는 것.
"To learn that it only takes a few seconds to open profound
