☞ ...가 잘 안되는 것 같아요
 
  I just can't seem to solve this problem.
    (이 문제 못 풀 것 같은데요.) : 구어체에서 "...을 잘 못한다" "...이 잘 안된다"라고 할 때 자주 사용된다.
 

 ☞ ...남았다
 
  How many lessons have you finishes? - Eight down and two to go.
    (8장이 끝나고, 2장이 남았다.)
  We've got  two hours to kill before the play starts.
    (연극이 시작하기 전에 두 시간 남았다.)
   cf) For here or to go? (to go : 가져갈 : 패스트 푸드점에서 점원이 손님에게 하는 말)
 

 ☞ ....는 당연하다
 
  I wouldn't be surprised if he passed the test.
    (..한다고 해도 놀라지 않을 것이다.) : 사용빈도가 높은 표현임
    cf) 반대 표현 : I'd be surprised if he didn't pass the test.
        (..라면 놀라울 것이다.)
 

 ☞ ... 되다(나이, 색깔 변화)
 
  I just turned 30. (막 30이 되었다.)
  His hair turned grey. (백발이 되었다.)
    cf) The leaves turn red.(나뭇잎이 붉게 물들었다.)
 

 ☞...되어 버리다
 
  I fell asleep.( 잠이 들었다.)
  The organization is falling apart.(그 조직은 산산조각나고 있다.)
 

 ☞ ... 때문에 ...할 수 없다
 
  prevent(stop. keep. prohibit. deter. hinder)...from - ing(구어체에서는 keep. stop을 많이 씀)
    The heavy snow kept(stopped) me from attending the meeting.
    ( 폭설 때문에  회의에 참석할 수 없었다.)
    cf) discourage/ dissuade ...from _ ing : ...에게 (설득하여) 못하도록 단념시키다.
 

 ☞ ... 때문에 ...를 할 수 있다
 
  enable(allow)...to..., make it possible for...to..
    The Internet has made it possible for educators to revolutionize the way in
    which we teach and learn.
 

 ☞ ... 때문에 ...할 수밖에 없다
 
  force(compel, oblige) ...to..
   His father's  sudden bankruptcy forced him to quit school.
   (force를 많이 씀)
 

 ☞ ..라고 생각해 보자(가정)
 
  Suppose (that) you are A, how would you respond to B?
    (구어체에서 Suppose를  많이 사용)
    cf) Imagine (that)....; Hypothetically...: 가상적으로 말해서
 

 ☞...라고 생각하다
 
  How did you find the movie? _ I found it very interesting.
    cf) I find it interesting to talk with her. 
         I found her a good partner.(1. I found that she is a good partner.
         2. I found a good partner for her.)
 

 ☞ ...라고 적혀 있다
 
  What does it say?(뭐라고 쓰여 있니?)
  It says here in the paper that storm is coming our way.
   (태풍이 이이로 오고 있다고 신문에 써 있어)
 

 ☞ ...라는 사실/뉴스(동격절)
 
  the fact/rumor/idea/notion/news/report/likelihood/possibility
   /hypothesis/assumption/opinion/claim/allegation/feeling/impression that....
   (that을 써서 한 단어처럼 기억해야 함)
   We cannot rule out the possibility that our economy will be doomed.
   (....라는 가능성을 배제할 수 없다.)
 

 ☞ ...에 관한 한, ...라면
 
  When it comes to writing essays, he's second to none. ; = as far as....
    (is concerned) ; as far as...goes
 

 ☞...를 하고 싶다
 
  What would you like to do? _ I'd love to dance with you.(지금 춤추고 싶다.)
  I'd love to, but I can't.
    (그러고 싶습니다만 , 좀 어렵겠는데요. : 상대방의  초대에 응하지 못할 때 쓰는 관용적 표현)
 

 ☞ ...를 할 수 있을 것이다
 
  will[be going to] be able to :
    You're going to be able to pass the test if you work hard.
 

 ☞ ...를 할 수 있을 지 모르겠다.
 
  may be able to :
    You may be able to pass the test. 
 

 ☞  ..를 해야 할 것이다
 
  will [be going to] have to :
   You're going to have to work harder than now.
 

 ☞ ...를 해야 할지 모르겠다.
 
  may have to : You may have to take the rest again.
 

 ☞ ...에 ....가 있다
 
  This box contains many things such as....;
    This book includes the essential concepts such as ...;
    cf) There is/are...는 생각이 잘 나지만
         contain/include등의 동사를 사용하기는 어렵다.
 

 ☞ ...에 의하면
 
  From what I know[hear/understand], he's not to be trusted.
    (내가 아는[들은,이해한]바에 의하면) :
    From my own experience, age is not crucial to successful language learning.
    cf) According to Mr. Smith : (...의 말[사실]에 의하면

   I used to drink [smoke/work out] a lot.
     (동사 + a lot :  매우 빈도 높은 회화 구문)
 

 ☞ ...을 염두에 두고
 
   With that in mind, let's move on to the next chapter.
     (격식있는 토론 [강의] 표현) : 그 점을 염두에 두고, 다음 장으로 넘어 갑시다.)
     Having said that,....(격식있는 표현임 : 그렇게 말했으니, 즉 그 말을 염두에 두고,.....)
     All things being equal,....(모든 조건이 동일하다고 볼 때.) :
    cf) 고려 해 볼 때 (문어체 표현) : Considering (that)....; Giving (that)...; Given the fact that ....
        (..한 사실을 고려해 볼 때)
 

 ☞....을  (원래) 좋아한다
 
  What do you do for relaxation? _ I love to dance [dancing].(원래 춤추는 것을 좋아한다)
    cf) I'd love to dance.(춤추고 싶다.)

    (newcomer : 신참. 새로 온 사람, do not seem to belong here : 여기에 적응하지 못하는 것 같다)
    cf) (사실은 ...이다 : The truth [fact] is (that) he doesn't like her.
        = In fact,.... = Ass a matter of fact,.....)(As는 매우 약화됨)
      * The fact of the matter is....(강조 표현 : The가 약화되어서 Fact of the matter is처럼 들림) ;..이다
      * The point [thing] is (that) he's not working hard enough ;
   cf) Basically,...(기본적으로는, 요는)

  (How long/ How much/ How often등) do you think [believe/suppose/imagine/guess/say]....?

     (이거 누가 한 것같니?)
    * What do you guess will happen next?
     (다음에 무슨 일이 있을 것 같니?)
    * Where did you say he lives?
     (그 사람 어디에서 산다고 했니?)
    * Why do you believe he said so?
     (왜 그 사람이 그렇게 말 한 것 같니?)
    * How did you suppose she persuaded him?
     (그녀가 그 남자를 어떻게 설득했다고 생각하니?)
    cf) How much  do you think it cost me to get this job done?
        (이 일을 하는 데 얼마 나 들었을 것 같습니까?)

     (이 일을 하는 데 얼마나 걸렸을 것 같습니까?)
