“Tokyo Tower”was written by Kaori Ekuni who is famous writer and the book「Between calmness and passion」. It refers to tower which is in Japan now. However in the book, it was not just tower but implied sorrow and loneliness. In addition, Tokyo Tower appeared main scenery and place which was loved by main character, とおる(To o ru).
The story is unfolding with two main characters, To o ru and こうじ(Ko u zi). They are friends and had attended the same high school but entered different universities. Also, they loved women who were 20 years older than them. To o ru has very soft and quiet personality, because his parents divorced when he was very young. Since that, he has lived with his mother. When he was in the second grade of the high school, he loved the woman who was his mother’s friend, しふみ(Si hu mi). She was married but has no kid and she runs a general store. They really love each other and overcome crises. In the end, they find out that they aren’t living in same house but they have same thoughts and are in same space. Compare with this, Ko u zi loves きみこ(Ki mi ko) who was married and 35 years old. Ko u zi thought she was just date mate and he didn’t love her. However, she really loves him and very worries about him. Ko u zi didn’t know really love. Eventually, she wants separation because of their cranky relation and several quarrels. Ko u zi thinks it isn’t important thing and before that he already thought about their separation. However, his heart does not forget her in that time but only he does not recognize that thing.
In this way, the book’s story is over. Maybe writer hopes that reader will make a conclusion by himself. Also this book shows two different couples to us, therefore we can think about what is true love. Moreover, writer wants to show true love in the world where is losing humanity by difficult love in couple who have very large gap in age.
