The Road Not Taken

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,

And sorry I could not travel both

And be one traveller, long I stood

And looked down one as far as I could

To Where it bent in the undergrouth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,

And having perhaps the better claim,

Because it was grassy and wanted wear;

Though as for that the passing there

Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning eqully lay

In leaves no step had trodden black.

Oh, I kept the first for another day!

Yet knowing how way leads on to way,

I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh

Somewhere ages and ages hence;

I took the one less travelled by,

And that has made all the difference.

가지 않은 길.

노랗게 물든 숲 속에 두 갈래 길이 있었습니다.  
난 나그네 몸으로 두 길을 다 가볼 수 없어
아쉬운 마음으로 그곳에 서서 
한쪽 길이 덤불 속으로 감돌아간 끝까지 
한참을 그렇게 바라 보았습니다.
그리고는 다른 쪽 길을 택했습니다. 

먼저 길에 못지 않게 아름답고
어쩌면 더 나은 듯도 싶었습니다.
사람들이 밟은 흔적은 비숫했지만 풀이 더
무성하고 사람의 발길을 기다리는 듯해서였습니다.

그날 아침 두 길은 모두 아직
발자국에 더렵혀지지 않은 낙엽에 덮여 있었습니다. 
먼저 길은 다른 날로 미루리라 생각했습니다.
길은 길로 이어지는 것이기에 
다시 돌아오기 어려우리라 알고 있었지만.

먼먼 훗날 어디에선가 
나는 한숨 쉬며 이야기를 할 것입니다. 
"숲 속에 두 갈래 길이 있어
나는 사람이 덜 다닌 길을 택했습니다. 그리고 
그것이 내 인생을 이처럼 바꿔 놓은 것입니다" 라고
