Early morning, she wakes up Knock, knock, knock on the door It's time for makeup, perfect smile It's you they're all waiting for
They go....... "Isn't she lovely, this hollywood girl?" And they say...
She's so lucky, she's a star But she cry, cry, cries in her lonely heart, thinking If there's nothing missing in my life Then why do these tears come at night?
Lost in an image, in a dream But there's no one there to wake her up And the world is spinning, And she keeps on winning But tell me what happens when it stops?
They go..... "Isn't she lovely, this hollywood girl?" And they say...
"Best actress, and the winner is ....lucky!" "I'm Roger Johnson for Pop News standing outside the arena waiting for lucky!" "oh, my god...here she comes!"
Isn't she lucky, this Hollywood girl?
She is so lucky, but why does she cry? If there is nothing missing in her life Why so tears come at night?
The song was primarily written and produced by Max Martin and Rami, and is about an actress, who despite being very "lucky" and seemingly having it all - fame, wealth, beauty, but is truly lonely on the inside for unknown reasons ("If there's nothing missing in my life, then why do these tears come at night?").
Chart performance
Though not as successful as the title-track lead single from Oops!... I Did It Again, "Lucky" still achieved success. The song peaked at number twenty- three on the Billboard Hot 100 thanks to its top ten placement on the Hot 100 Airplay chart. However, like several previous singles released by Britney, "Lucky" did not have the sales of a regular CD single to aid it on the charts.
Lucky was successful at Top 40 radio, making the top of the Top 40 Tracks and Rhythmic Top 40, as well as top ten of the Mainstream Top 40.It was the second and the last single from the Oops!I Did It Again album to do so.
The single also made the top placement in many European nations, as well as Australia, where it actually ended up selling more than the previous single.
In New Zealand the single peaked at number two, despite strong sales. This is because, at the time, the singles chart was composed of 75% airplay statistics and 25% sales figure. Therefore, despite selling more than 15,000 copies (Spears' most successful single after Baby One More Time), the song only reached top-five.
Lucky sold a total of 203,000 copies in the UK earning a silver BPI award.[2] The Single sold 3.914.000 copies Worldwide in the year 2000 alone making it the 14th highest-selling single of that year.[3]
