The fire is set just above the ground level from the visitors view to virtually visualize the dome under fire that day. The words on the stone reads, "Rest in peace. We won't make the same mistake."
이 오브제와 뒤에 있는 불, 원폭돔은 방문자들이 이 방향으로 오브제를 통해 들여다 볼때 비로소 하나로 연결된다. 불은 이 자리에서 방문자들이 오브제 안을 들여봤을때 원폭돔의 지면 바로 위에 오게 되어있는데 이것은 피폭당일 불에 휩싸인 원폭돔을 보여주기 위함이라고 들었다. 비석에 새겨진 말은, "편히 잠드십시오. 같은 실수는 되풀이하지 않겠습니다."
