The Israel Air Force (IAF) is considering the procurement of the F-35B short take-off and vertical landing (STOVL) version of the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) in addition to the F-35A conventional take-off and landing (CTOL) version, industry sources have told Jane's.
그 이유는 작년 이맘 때 헤즈볼라와의 전쟁에서 이스라엘의 도시들이 장거리 로켓 공격을 받은 바 있어 앞으로의 전쟁에서는 활주로들이 이러한 공격에 취약할 수도 있기 때문이라고 합니다. 1960년대에 NATO의 여러 나라들이 수직이착륙기에 관심을 가졌던 것과 같은 이유입니다.
