MYMP는 1996년 기타와 보컬을 맡고 있는 Chin Alcantara(친 알칸타라)를 중심으로 대학교에서 결성되었다. 초반에 그들은 남성 4인조 밴드였으며 2003년 여성보컬 Julie Iris "Juris" Fernandez 가 영입되어 2004년 지금과 같이 2인체제로 이루어졌다. (한국에서는 그들의 관계가 남매라고 잘못 알려지기도 했다) 첫 번째 앨범 Soulful Acoustic의 첫 번째 싱글 "A little Bit이 엄청난 인기를 얻으며 필리핀의 최대의 뮤직어워드인 Awit Awards에서 Favorite Song 부문을 수상하였으며 매년 발매한 그들의 오리지널 곡과 그들의 방식으로 커버된 곡들이 대중들의 귀를 사로잡으며 발매하는 앨범마다 음반 판매량 1위를 하는 등 많은 사랑을 받았다
