Planetshakers 는 오스트레일리아에서 청(소)년 부흥운동을 이끄는 사역으로 시드니의 Hillsong 과 함께 오스트레일리아 청(소)년들, 그리고 국제적으로 수많은 젊은이들에게 영향력을 주고 있는 크리스천 운동입니다. Planetshakers 를 한국어로 해석하면 "지구, 우주를 흔드는 사람들"(정도로 해석이 되겠네요... ^^ Planetshakers 는 현재 오스트레일리아 제 2의 도시 멜버른에서 진행중인 청(소)년 부흥운동으로 매년 청(소)년 컨퍼런스를 열며 국제적인 청(소)년 사역으로 발전한 Movement 입니다.
Planetshakers 사역은 1990년대 중반 오스트레일리아 남쪽에 있는 인구 1.1 million 의 도시 Adelaide (5번째로 큰 도시)에 위치한 Paradise Community Church 에서 목사아들로 성장한 Russell Evans 목사에 의해 처음 시작된 사역입니다. 1997년 300명으로 시작된 유스컨퍼런스는 2008년 1월 호주 4개도시 - 시드니, 멜버른, 브리스베인, 퍼스 - 순회하며 2만명이 넘는 오스트레일리아 젊은이들이 참석할 정도로 큰 영향력을 주고 있습니다. 2004년에는 사역지를 인구 3백 2십만의 멜버른으로 옮겨 Planetshakers City Church 를 개척했고 현재 약 4000 명(10대-40대 초반) 회중이 모여 예배를 드리고 있는 오스트레일리아의 대표적인 청년교회 입니다. Planetshakers College 을 얼마전에 개설하여 현대교회 사역에 맞추어 Biblical Studies 와 신학, 그리고 Contemporary Music 이론, 악기 수업과 녹음 과목을 제공하고 있습니다. 현재 4개 도시에 학교를 세워 운영하고 있습니다. - Perth(WA), Newcastle (NSW), Brisbane (QLD) and Melbourne (VIC) - planetshakers 밴드의 워십리더인 Henry Seeley , 담임목사 Russell and Sam Evans 부부, Martin Steele 와 Mike Guglielmucci (베이스주자, 작사/작곡자, 청소년 사역자) 등이 Planetshakers College 에서 가르치고 있습니다. planetshakers 찬양사역은 가장 대표적인 사역으로 그동안 18장의 음반을 출시하며 많은 오스트레일리아 젊은이들에게 사랑받고 있습니다. 현재 오스트레일리아에서 Hillsong 과 함께 가장 큰 영향력을 주는 청(소)년 사역이자, 예배사역 팀 입니다. 그동안 출시된 앨범 Free (2008) Recorded live at Planetshakers City Church.
