The South Korean e-commerce company Coupang opened for trading Thursday at $63.50 a share, up 81% from its initial public offering at $35 a share. At the opening trade, the company on a fully diluted basis is worth about $114 billion. It’s the largest U.S. listing of an Asian company since Alibaba in 2014, and instantly makes Coupang the largest Korean company listed on a U.S. stock exchange.
The offering consisted of 130 million shares, including 30 million from selling holders and the rest from the company – the deal was increased from an originally projected 120 million shares, with the secondary portion widened by 10 million shares. There will be close to 1.8 billion shares outstanding after the offering on a fully diluted basis. The deal generated proceeds to Coupang of about $3.5 billion before fees.

Earlier this week the company had raised the expected price to a range of $32 to $34 a share, from a previous target range of $27 to $30.
