A little history for those new fans who kept defending people who defamed and discredit BTS.
The hate started in 2015 when BTS got in Billboard 200 for the first time and when their album '화양연화' was selling esp. in Russia. They weren't allowed to succeed because they are from a small company, so everyone went insane.
Suddenly, BTS was a threat, when before they taught they'd never be anything because back then small company idols never competed with the BIG 3 agency (SM, YG and JYP).
Things got really bad when Big Bang fans accused BTS of plagiarizing for literally everything.
It was all ridiculous, but it trended crazy in Korea, even the general public and most other fandoms hopped in the bandwagon and started saying how horrible BTS were for doing it.
And antis keep saying that BTS had no talent because they just stole everything from others, etc., as well as accusing BTS for copying THEIR groups, too. The hate got so bad that Big Hit had to go to court to prove they didn't commit fraud and won.
TaeHyung/V was seen crying after being bashed severely by netizens for negative rumors antis spread, and Namjoon told us earlier in year 2016 that he was suicidal in 2015 because of it all the things happening. That's how bad it was.
Then there's Exo's fan, they've done more things than I can't count, but the biggest one was they trended "Plagiarism Boys" in Korea on the day of BTS' first dome concert in year 2016.
A massive day for BTS and ARMY that they ruined on purpose, and the members saw it and even made posts about it in the fancafe, and K-ARMYs cried all night because of it.
They also screamed cursed words and threats at BTS when they won their first grand award last 2016, which the boys had to see and hear as they stood on stage, and that was another day that were supposed to be happy where K-ARMYs went home miserable and crying.
They also tried to get BTS' grand award taken away, they even called the Korean President's Office and the Blue House, and harassed Korean music company employees so much that they put out statements begging them to stop.
To this day, they claimed the grand awards aren't legitimate, and say that literally every award BTS wins or achievement they have is fake and from cheating.
Until late 2016, BTS' reputation is horrible in Korea, most non-fan that know them think they're cheaters with horrible personalities and all kind of problematic things because of false rumors antis spread.
They get defaming articles about BTS to the top of Korean community boards and news sites that the general public sees, and get all positive articles about BTS removed by mass reporting them.
And when ARMY make clarification posts, they're also massively reported and downvoted so they're never seen, so the general public only sees bad things about BTS.
That is literally just now starting to change because of BTS' international achievement, and their positive articles are finally making it to the main pages.
As for why people hate ARMYs, back in 2015, even before the crazy hate started, when BTS released 화양연화 Album and got noticed for the first time, they said we were the worst because we were everywhere.
They bashed us daily and said we were so annoying just because so many people had BTS' pictures as their DPs and BTS related articles got so many comments/likes/shares.
Then after the massive hate against BTS started, antis started posing as ARMYs in Youtube, Twitter, and K-pop forums and would go to other group's MV and insult them and promote BTS, say horrible things to other group, etc.
They called it 'BREAK WINGS' Project.
So other K-pop stans started hating ARMYs, this 'Break Wings' project were largely done by Exo's fans but other fandoms joined them, just like they do now especially, Got7's fans and Big Bang's fans.
Now they say we're arrogant for hyping BTS and throwing their success in their haters' faces, and that we are somehow to blame for other groups not being popular as BTS.
Basically, they hate ARMYs and BTS just because they're jealous and feel threatened for their group's future because BTS is getting big.
ARMYS don't just brag because we're arrogant, we do it because they said that BTS' whole career would never be anything and literally tried to destroy them for years, so we're throwing it in their faces.
Many ARMY are becoming hostile to other fandoms and their groups because there were so much anger built up after all these years of abuse and teaming up against ARMYs just to make BTS lose, and now ARMYs are big enough to not only stand up for BTS but overshadow them.
Back then, ARMY were so mild and quiet because we were so scared of offending other fandoms and making them hate BTS, but they claimed we were the worst as much back then and they do now.
I've been with BTS since 2013, and let me tell you the hate that they suddenly had coming at them in 2015 that hit us like a truck.
We were so happy BTS finally had a decent album sales and our fandom was getting bigger, and then all of a sudden it was like hellfire raining down on us everyday, everywhere.
There were days when I was so anxious about what new rumors antis made, what new projet they started, what new thing we and BTS would be attacked for, that I was literally shaking, and I'd get so angry and miserable arguing with other K-pop stans or desperately trying to clarify false rumors and defend BTS that I'd break down and cry, and I'm not an emotional person.
We dreaded BTS Comebacks because that was when they attacked the most, and the antis organized huge project to sabotage us and hurt our BTS' images even more.
But despite all that they've done to us -- black oceans, false rumors, false reports, attack projects, hurting our boys' reputation, saying horrific things, trying to destroy their comebacks, sabotaging competitions, and banding together to try to make us lose, etc.--
WE HAVE NEVER ATTACKED THEM.
We've never sabotaged someone's Comeback, or trended hate, or spread false rumors to damage reputation, etc.
I said this because a lot of NEW ARMY sometimes think that the 'ARMY are the worst' label is fitting for us, sometimes because of the way that the other ARMYS go after antis group or brag really hard on BTS.
I think it's important for NEW ARMYS to understand these things, because this history of BTS and ARMY explains why we are so passionate about making BTS succeed.
And why so many ARMYS are so furious with antis and don't care about their feelings anymore, and why BTS gets so emotional and thank us so much.
It's because we've been through a lot, and we literally only have each other, and it's always been that way.
