영국 그룹 Dire Straits 의 통상 4번째 앨범 <Love Over Gold>에 실린
이 곡은 리드 보컬인 Mark Knopfler의 담담한 나레이션으로 채워진 곡이다.
그렇다고 '김미숙의 시낭송' 이런것을 생각하면 곤란하다. 하드보일드 소설에
등장할 법한 사립탐정이 주인공인 이 곡의 가사는 마치 폴 오스터의 소설
'뉴욕 3 부작'을 연상 시킨다.
그의 기타 주법은 보통의 락기타리스트 들이 피킹 주법을 사용하는것과 달리
손가락만을 이용한 핑거링 주법이다. 그래서 피킹의 날카로운 파열음 보다
더 부드럽고 인간적인 느낌이 드는것이 그의 연주의 장점이다. 굉장히 특출난
테크닉을 화려하게 뿌려대는 스타일은 아니지만 과장을 모르고 적제적소에
던져둘줄 아는 겸손함이 그의 연주의 핵심이고 그의 매력이다.
