An adjective is a word that describes something.

afraid
When you're afraid, you are scared.

ajar
Something that is ajar is partly open. The door is ajar.

alike
When things are alike they look the same.

angry
When you are angry, you are very mad.

asleep
When you are asleep you are not awake.

When you are awake, you are not asleep.

big
When someone or something is big, it is above average size.
