Once upon a time not so long ago

 

Tommy used to work on the docks

Gina works the diner all day

아주 오래전은 아니었지만....

 

토미는 부두에서 일을 했어요

하지만 노조가 파업을 하고,

토미는 운이 없었죠, 힘든 일이죠

참 힘든일이에요

지나는 온 종일 식당에서 일을 해요

남편을 위해서....

 

사랑을 위해 번 돈을 집으로 가져오죠

사랑을 위해서..

그녀는 말해요

'우리가 가진 것에 충실해야 해요

우리가 성공하느냐 못하느냐는

중요하지 않아요

우리에겐 서로가 있고

그것만 있으면 사랑하기엔 충분하잖아요

그냥 노력해봐요'

 

기도하는 삶을 산다면

목적의 반은 이룬 거에요

내 손을 잡아요

우린 꼭 해낼 수 있어요, 맹세해요

믿음을 가지고 산다면요

 

토미는 기타마저 저당잡혔어요

이제 예전에 힘들다고 하던 말조차

애써 감추려 하죠

참 힘들군요

지나는 멀리 달아나길 꿈꿔요

밤이 되어 그녀가 울면

토미가 속삭여줘요

'여보,  괜찮아 질거야, 언젠가는...'

 

우리가 가진 것에

충실해야 해요

우리가 성공하느냐 못하느냐는

중요하지 않아요

우리에겐 서로가 있고

그것만 있으면 사랑하기엔 충분하잖아요

그냥 노력해봐요

 

준비가 되어 있든, 그렇지 않든

끈질기게 견뎌 나가야 해요

가진 게 얼마 없다면

세상과 싸워 나가는 거에요
