Roh Hyun-jeong’s marriage concerns her private life. No matter what has gone before, I will respect her decisions without intervening in her private life. However, I will interfere concerning Roh Hyun-jeong as a character with a public responsibility. I have a right to do so as a TV viewer.

No, I am not talking about the marriage announcement of Roh Hyun-jeong. As I have already said to others several times, that concerns just her private life. We do not need to make noises for no reason before her marriage as she herself is not speaking about it so much. But, I am worried about her MC role in the . I am not saying I am an enthusiastic fan of or of Roh Hyun-jeong. However, I must tell you I am one of those who mechanically switch to KBS2 TV channel at 11 p.m. every Tuesday. To have a somewhat interesting program on TV at a certain fixed time makes me feel at ease, especially when I have to return home late. This entertainment program that I watch on DMB phone consoles me very much. I cannot say TV is a drug. But, it is true that TV is like a kind of sedative. I believe it is one of the positive effects of TV. Anyhow, Roh Hyun-jeong is the most important part of . Primarily she MC-ed only the ‘OLD & NEW’ section, but she has already swallowed up the whole program, and now more than the half of the show depends on her character. As it was very successful, Roh Hyun-jeong’s character has been transplanted even to outside this program.

Here, I did not say just ‘Roh Hyun-jeong was a guest of .’ It is because Roh Hyun-jeong of is not the Roh Hyun-Jeong of real life. If she had been just the Roh Hyun-Jeong of real life, there would not have been any change in her character in until now. But, when we compare the early episodes of ‘OLD & NEW’ with recent ones, we can see a clear difference. Roh Hyun-jeong of the beginning stages was much livelier, much more talkative and cheerful than now. A little later, this image turned into that of a school teacher who assumes a prim appearance. Meanwhile, the efforts and ideas of many people have been added to the program. Without doubt, the role of Roh Hyun-jeong herself was most important. Still, we cannot ignore the role of the fixed panels that have made out new image interacting with Roh Hyun-jeong. Here, we must remember also the contributions of the directors and writers who worked on her character and decided on the right direction like the editor of 「Astounding Science Fiction」, John Wood Campbell, Jr., who drew out Three Laws of Robotics from the SF stories of Asimov. Also the contributions of the makeup artists and TV audience who participated in the program putting their feedbacks on the opinion board of the program should be counted in. The Roh Hyun-jeong who we know now is not the Roh Hyun-jeong of before but a totally new work that has been made by numerous people, including she herself, who have cooperated over past 1 to 2 years using their heads and exchanging opinions. Consequently, there is a need to make full use of her for as long as possible.

For all that, this elaborated invention is on the brink of being marred by the marriage announcement of the Roh Hyeon-jeong in real life. As a matter of course, there are some parts to be changed owing to her marriage. One of the important aspects of her character has always involved scenes in which male guests recklessly attempt to attract her, but this kind of direction will not work so well after her marriage. I’m not saying that Roh Hyun-jeong’s character has been totally damaged. People, however, already consider this character at an end. It is a kind of decision-making regarding the future that is uniquely based on the database, accumulated randomly over the past several decades, without considering the character’s value or the opinions of herself. And, this will have influence even on Roh Hyun-jeong’s life. It is just a good example of the ‘Oedipus Effect’ of Karl Raimund Popper. If we apply the term ‘Oedipus Effect’ to history, previous predictions decide the direction of the future history. In fact, under these circumstances she is probably driven to take others into careful consideration. Undoubtedly, the recent rumors and speculations presented by mass media will influence, positively or negatively, the actual decisions of this person.

As I said before, Roh Hyun-jeong’s marriage concerns her private life. No matter what has gone before, I will respect her decisions without intervening in her private life. However, I will interfere concerning Roh Hyun-jeong as a character with a public responsibility. I have a right to do so as a TV viewer. And, I hope she is at least somewhat sensible of her responsibility for her position and character in her organization as a salaried worker. I mean I am hoping she does not let herself be involved in the atmosphere that considers the laughable Cinderella story more important than her position and responsibility. But, whatever I hope, there does not seem much probability in the conjecture that Roh Hyun-jeong’s character will remain in . I think so as everybody is already busy speaking about her successor. It can be understood enough if we are ready to accept the fact that people get familiar with every new MC only after a few weeks. Out of sight, out of mind! Meantime, the new MC and the people around her may also create another character different from that of Roh Hyun-jeong. Our world goes away in that way. Yet, it is quite loathsome to leave the world pass by in that way. I feel so more strongly when I consider her position in our society that asks her more responsibility as a person in public view. Could anybody bring this hackneyed vicious cycle to an end, please? / DJUNA
