오늘의 표현들
1) Cruise around=drive around=드라이브하다/~에 운전하며 돌아다니다
a. What do you want to do?
b. I don't know...Why don't we just cruise(drive) around the town
and see if there's anything interesting going on~!
2) ASAP=as soon as possible=가능한한 빨리
a. How soon do you need to buy a car?
b. ASAP~!
ASAP(그냥 "에이에스에이피"로 발음하면 됩니다. ASAP는 as soon as possible의
약자이지만 "에이에스에이피" 그 자체로도 많이 사용되는 표현이기 때문에 알아
두시면 좋을 것입니다.
3) To Come along=따라오다/같이가다
a. I'm going to Chicago today, do you want to come along?
b. Yah, sure, I do~!
4) Beats me=I have no idea=(전혀) 모르겠다
a. Do you know anything about this book?
b. Beats me. I've never heard of this book until now.
5) Without a doubt=of course=no doubt=당연하다
6) Same old, same old=예전이나 지금이나 똑같다
7) That's my kind of (something)=딱 내 스타일의 ~다
a. This is my kind of car
b. She is my kind of girl
8) To do a dinner(breakfast/lunch)=저녁먹다
9) To make a deposit=입금하다
10) To take time off from (something)=~로부터 쉬다
a. I'm taking some time off from my work because I'm sick
11) Stick around=To remain=여기에 있으면서~하다
a. Do you know what time he's coming back?
b. He's supposed to be here in any minute(=금방/조만간).
a. Then I'll stick around here and wait for him a little more.
12) To chill out with (someone)=To hang out with=~와 놀다
a. What'd you do last night?
b. I chilled out with Phil at his place~!
13) It's been forever~=정말 오래 되다
일반적으로 Forever는 "영원히"라는 뜻을 가지고 있지만 일상 대화에서 "I haven't seen
you forever=너 본지 정말 오래됐다"또는 "I haven't been there forever=거기 가본지 정말 오래됐다"고 할때 "Forever"를 사용할 경우 "정말/엄청 오래되다"라는 뜻으로 사용 될 수 있습니다. "For a long time"보다 더 강한 뜻을 가지고 있습니다.

a. Me? Just finished up my school and taking some time off from doing
anything. I’ve been just doing nothing but hanging out with Phil these days.
(나? 난 학교 마치고 좀 쉬고있다. 요즘엔 필하고 맨날 놀기만 한다)
b. That’s my kinda life~
(딱 내가 원하는 건데...)
a. Gotta enjoy while I can, right?
(즐길 수 있을 때 즐겨야지~)
b. Without a doubt~! By the way, what’s your plan for tonight? Do you
wanna do a dinner together?
(바로 그거야~! 근데 오늘 저녁에 뭐 계획있어? 저녁이나 같이 할까?)
a. Sure, that’d be cool. When was the last time we actually had a meal
together?
(그래, 좋지~! 마지막으로 우리 밥 같이 먹은게 언제였지?)
b. Beats me~! It’s been like forever, you know? Anyway, we got like 3 hours
before dinner time.
(몰겠다~정말 오래된거 같다, 그치? 어떪? 저녁 시간까지 한 3시간 정도 있는거 같다.)
(Do you) Wanna stick around here and watch a movie together?
(여기에서 (있으면서) 우리 영화나 볼까?)
a. Sorry...I have to go to my bank and make a deposit. It shouldn’t take
more than 30 minutes, but it’s just that I have to do it ASAP.
(미안, 나 은행에 가서 돈 좀 입금 시켜야 하거던. 입금 시키고 하는데 30분 정도 밖에 걸리진 않아도 지금 당장 해야하는 거라서 말이지...)
b. I see...how about this? Can I come along? After you take care of
whatever you need to do, we’ll cruise around and find something to do.
(그렇구나...이건 어때? 나 같이 따라가도 돼? 할일 마치고 차타고 돌아 다니면서 뭐 할거 있나 보자~!)
a. Sounds good to me...
