개인적으로 상당히 맘에 들었다.
밴드의 이름과 같은 리더인 마릴린 맨슨(Marilyn Manson)은 섹스 심벌인 영화배우 마릴린 먼로(Marilyn Monroe)와 여러명을 집단 학살한 희대의 살인마 찰스 맨슨(Charles Manson)의 이름을 조합한 것이다. 본명은 브라이언 휴 워너(Brian Hugh Warner)이다. 밴드명과 같아 미스터 맨슨(Mr. Manson)을 쓰기도 한다.
기타와 베이스를 맡고 있는 트위기 라미레즈(Twiggy Ramirez)는 60년대 최고의 여성 모델 트위기(Twiggy)와 '나이트 스토커(Night Stalker)'란 별명을 가진 살인마 리차드 라미레즈(Richard Ramirez)의 이름에서 따왔다. 본명은 조디 프랜시스 화이트(Jeordie Francis White).
키보드와 신서사이저를 맡고 있는 마돈나 웨인 개이시(Madonna Wayne Gacy, 혹은 Pogo)는 가수이자 영화배우인 마돈나(Madonna)와 아이들의 생일파티에 고용되는 어릿광대로 분장해 모두 33명의 소년을 유괴한 후 살인하고 '어릿광대 포고(Pogo the Clown)'라 불린 아동 연쇄살인범 존 웨인 개이시(John Wayne Gacy)의 이름에서 따온 것이다. 본명은 스테판 그레고리 바이어 주니어(Stephen Gregory Bier Jr.)
드럼을 맡은 진저 피쉬(Ginger Fish)는 여배우 진저 로저스(Ginger Rogers)와 어린아이의 인육을 즐겨먹었다는 앨버트 피쉬(Albert Fish)의 이름을 조합한 것이다. 본명은 케니 프랭크 윌슨(Kenny Frank Wilson).
기타를 맡고 있는 존 파이브(John 5)는 밴드 중 이름만으로 따졌을 때 가장 무난한 사람인 듯하다. 다른 멤버들처럼 섹스와 살인마를 연상케하는 이름과 달리 현재의 라인업 가운데 마지막 다섯번째로 들어왔다는 뜻에서 본명인 존과 5를 조합했다고 한다. 본명은 존 로워리(John Lowery).
