Born 1980 in Pune(India), She lives and works in New Delhi.
Siya Singh's self-portraits are a pointed commentary on the changing identify of an urban Indian woman. They also serve to reflect on the inherent naricissicm, which inhabits each of us. The metamorphosis of the child-like woman into a woman who is aware of herself and her sexuality subverts all preconceived notions of Indian femininity. In a milieu, which for the most part is unreceptive and suspicious of her androgynous looks, she pushes the boundaries of conformity through her instinctively 'raw' images.

아를에서 만났던 인도출신의 사진 작가들 중 가장 젊으면서 흥미로운 사진을 찍었던 작가 Siya Singh. 매일 자신의 모습을 사진으로 다이어리 형식으로 찍으면서 자신의 정체성을 찾고자 하던 작가의 모습은 사회적으로 위치한 혹은 인도라는 국가적 지리에 속해있는 근본적인 물음을 스스로에게 내뱉고 있었다.
