누구나 한번쯤 들어봤을 곡이지만 이 곡에 대해서 잘 아는 사람은 없는 듯 하다.  

이 곡은 벨기에 출신의 크로스오버 재즈 밴드 Citizen Jane의 곡으로,

이들은 여성 보컬 앤(Anne Van Der Plasch)과 남성 보컬 얀(Jan Vanlaet), 기타리스트 맥스(Pascal "Max" Eglem)로 이루어진 트리오이다.

재즈풍의 리듬, 로맨틱한 멜로디, 감성적인 화음으로 이들은 파리의 작은 클럽에서 무용수들의 백밴드로 시작한 이들은 91년말 첫 데뷔 싱글 [Laureen]을 발표하여 매스컴의 주목을 받으며 벨기에의 국영방송에 정규 출연하는 기회를 얻게 된다. 이후 트리오에서 혼과 키보드를 보강하여 벨기에 최고의 페스티발인 &#-9;Geentsefeesten&#-9;에 단골 출연하게 되고 전세계를 돌며 각 재즈 페스티발에 참가하여 명성을 쌓아갔다.

So Sad And Alone은 93년 데뷔 정규앨범에 수록된 곡으로 SBS의 모 드라마에 삽입되어 우리나라에서 많은 사랑을 받았다. 보사노바풍의 애수 젖은, 그러나 그리 무겁지 않은 느낌으로 다가오며 특히 개인적으로 인트로의 휘파람소리와 후주에서의 트럼펫 소리가 무척 인상적이다.

비오는날 창가에서 커피한잔에 이 곡을 들으면 정말 잘 어울릴듯 하다.
