★이런 친구 있으세요? ★
어떤 사람이 지은지 3년째 되는
집을 헐 때의 일이랍니다.
인부들은 작업도중...
꼬리 쪽에 못이 박혀서
꼼짝 못하고 벽에 달라붙어 있는 도마뱀
한 마리를 발견했다네요.
도마뱀에 박혀있는 대못은 3년 전...
그러니깐 집을 지을때 쯤 박았던
못인 것 같았어요.
그렇다면 도마뱀은 3년 동안 꼼짝없이
벽에 달라붙어 있었다는 말이 되는 거지요.
먹기는 커녕 움직이지도 못하는 도마뱀이 어떻게
3년을 버틸수 있었을까?
결국 인부들은 공사를 중단했구,
그 도마뱀을 지켜보기로 했다고 해요.
그런데 공사를 중단하구 얼마쯤 지났을까?
다른 도마뱀 하나가 뒤뚱뒤뚱 먹이를 물어다가
그 앞에 놔주더라는 거예요.
하루에도 몇 번씩......
그렇게 3년 동안이나 먹이를 물어다 주는 친구덕에
그 도마뱀은 꼼짝없이 죽은 목숨을 버틸 수 있었다는
얘기였어요.
어쩌면 우린 그런 친구를 찾아서
늘 갈구하는 맘으로 이곳 저곳 헤메이고
있는 건 아닌지... 모를일이군요.
나는 그런 친구 한 사람 갖고 있는가...
한 참 마음속 깊은 곳을 헤집으며 찾아 보는
이 아침은 참으로 허전합니다.
아니...
나는 내 친구에게 정말 그런 사랑을
주고 있었는지 많이 많이
돌아보며 반성하고 있는 저입니다.
