노트북이란 이름으로 대중들에게 알려진 시점은 도시바의 다이나북이 한창 대박날때라는 점일 뿐이고 이러한 제품들은 이미 유럽이나 미국에서 포터블 PC로 상용되고 있었습니다. 오스본 역시 배터리를 가지고 있었기때문에 이동하면서 사용할수 있었습니다. 단지, 노트북이라는 이름만 없었을 뿐이라고 생각합니다. 도시바 T1100도 결국 포터블 PC의 연장이며, 이 포터블 PC에 크기를 줄이고 이동성을 강화시켜 노트북이라고 각인시킨 것 입니다. 이러한 개념에서 진정한세계 최초의 노트북을 오스본1이라고 한 것입니다.

The Osborne I was the first "portable" computer on the market, being introduced in 1981. It weighed 23.5 pounds, and came with a 5" monitor that displayed 80 characters at a time. Two 91Kb 5.25" floppy drives were built in, and a battery pack could also be added. The Osborne used a 4 Mhz Zilog Z-80A processor with 64 Kb of RAM and 4 Kb of ROM. It ran the CP/M operating system. Its street price was $1795. Unfortunately, Adam Osborne's company went bankrupt a few years after the introduction of the Osborne I.
