미하일 고르바초프(Mikhail Gorbachev)가 집권하던 그 시절, 러시아에서는 많은 변화가 일어나기 시작하였다. 
그 시절은 모방의 시대라고 불리울 만큼 여러 부문에서 눈에 띄기 시작하였다.

러시아에서 최초의 미인대회가 개최될 당시, 엄청난 반향이 일어났다. 
"Moscow beauty"라고 불리기도 한 이 이벤트는 60년대 초, 가가린이(Gagarin)이 
최초의 우주비행사로서 우주를 날았던 역사적인 사실에 버금가는 센세이션을 일으켰다.
