To start off with, we want to make this clear. We are not spreading this incident to defame or drag the artist. We are spreading this so that it won’t happen again, regardless of the fandom.
EXO Ls are not looking for an apology.
To clarify, we are also not trying to purposefully drag BTS (the artist) down.
What we are trying to do is stop this twisted fandom culture where a fandom name is used as a curse word. This practice is abnormal and should be abandoned.
The fact that the word “Aerie-ness” or “Aerie” (A fandom’s name) is used as a curse word in everyday life is disgusting and wrong.
We need to stop this situation where the concept of using names as a swearword is normalized.
EXO Ls are not trying to “drag” or “defame” BTS or ARMYs. We are trying to stop and change a fandom wide phenomenon spread so widely that people do not recognize that its wrong. We are spreading this incident to change this contorted fandom culture once and for all, and to cleanse the toxic atmosphere.

First off, the situation started out like this. On 2018, January 12th, Armys were standing in line (pulling an all-nighter) for the 4th BTS fan meeting. While they were waiting in line, an army started a TWITTER LIVE STREAM. The Livestream lasted for about 50 minutes in total

The full video is available on youtube, but here is a short cutout version with English subtitleshttps://twitter.com/jjoyred/status/952125771891396608
In the full video, you can hear this5min 55sec"Quit being an army you Aeri like B*tch"“F*ck you can't do work properly you're like an Aerie F*ck"
Later on, they started saying things about exo, especially about D.O, a member of exo. They referred to him as a potato, which is a degrading word used in certain sites in korea. (potato in this context doesn’t not simply mean "potato" it stands for much worse)

The live stream was seen by over 5000 people in total, but none of them spoke out that it was wrong, or stopped the army from saying degrading things about other fandoms and artists.

Exo ls only knew about this matter because Armys started trending "우리팬덤" on Twitter, saying things like "armys are becoming like aeries(?)" and “the lines are disorganized" due to the state of the lines during the fan meet - here is a gif

The original poster of the live stream apologized, however directly after the “apology"she retweeted a tweet that said that she had no fault and it was exo-ls who were overreacting. she stated that it was only 3~4 people who swore about exo

However, an army who was there at the fan meet line posted that “the fact that it was only 3~4 people" was untrue - she said that countless people who were lining up for the fan meet were swearing and cursing exo and exols.

The focus here is that there were countless fans who were using a fandom's name as a curse word, and they didn't know that it was wrong. They were laughing and joining in, and no one tried to stop them or inform that it is a crime.

Even now, if you search "Aerie-ness" the majority of the people who used the word negatively are armys. “Aerie" is a very special, precious name to us EXO Ls, and it is clearly wrong to use it and degrade it as a swear word.

The important thing is that people don't know that its a crime to use someone else's name as a swear word and use it in real life. EXO Ls are trying to spread awareness of this so that it won't happen again, regardless of the fandom.
