Dior Homme_07 s/s by Hedi Slimane

The "is-he-or-isn't-he" whispers ran the length of every row of seats at the Dior Homme show tonight, but Hedi Slimane (still refusing to comment on the rumours that he might be about to give up his post to Kris Van Assche), gave a show with all the attitude we're used to from him - and who cares what the gossips are saying. With Mick Jagger, Elton John and Karl Lagerfeld in the front row, he kept the skinniest jeans at the height of Hedi cool and gave them pencil-thin ties to match. Models with monk-like bobs were sometimes so androgynous that their faces jarred with the hardcore style of their cutaway tunics, metallic shirts (a sprinkling of Ziggy Stardust came in then), and panelled leather jackets - and the show was all the better for it.
