Introduction On The Elephant's Threat Display
What is the frist thing that you think of when you hear the word 'threat'??Maybe someone threatening someone for some weird reason. Well, have you ever seen any animals that were threatening other animals to go away? In a zoo, you might see some monkeys fighting over a piece of food that a person just threw at them. But, monkeys, they are not threatening the other one to go away, because they had never been to the wild (I mean the ones int the zoo). They had only been in a cage, where there is no animals that hunt them and eat them. So, they probably had never learned how to threat things (AKA animals), and scare them away. Then, another question. If you hear the word, 'elephants' what do we usually think of? We usually think of the long, grey nose, and the crackly skin, and the gigantic size, which seems to be getting bigger even at the point of death. Or, maybe you've been thinking of the fights that they have with the other elephants. The big group of elephants that live together, the leader(oldest female in the group) always takes care of the other elephant that comes near a pack. That's called threats. That's how I got my curiosity in the threat displays the elephants show. I wanted to know more about the threat displays the elephants give when they are mad, and even wanted to know a little about the fighting movements they use when they really get mad. I got this idea from a video that my class watched a few weeks ago, and saw these elephants that were fighting. That really got my attention. Many other things got my attention too, but didn't catch more attention then the fighting elephants. The issue these days is that the people have no fear in those vicious animals. I'm not saying that the elephants are vicious, elephants are quite tame, and calm with people if they are trained. On the CNN news, it had said that a woman trainer was killed "on the spot" as it says, and a male trainer was hurt very bad, trying to stop to tantrum(or a fit) the elephant was going through, and get the woman out of the way. That probably means that they didn't know 'the signs'. There are many signs that mean that the elephant is mad, or just feeling a bit picky today about people doing things to them. In the paragraphs ahead, I'm going to write about the ways the elephants show the threat displays. In the body paragraph, I'm going to tell you all the possibilities that show the people that the elephants are mad. And in the conclusion paragraph, I'm going to summarize all the things I've said. As a suggestion, I suggest that you stay away from elephants that show the signs that I will list in the body. "Look, watch and be careful!! You never know the signs the elephant makes means that he(or she) is angry, upset, or very mad that it'll kill you!!
