여러분도 혹시 아실지 모르지만

아주아주 오렌 옛날

바닷가 어느 왕국에

애너벨 리라 불리는

한 소녀가 살았답니다

나를 사랑하고

내게 사랑받는 것 외엔

그 무엇도 생각하지 않는 소녀였답니다.

나도 어렸고

그녀도 어렸지만

바닷가 그 왕국에서

나와 나의 애너벨 리는

사랑 이상의 사랑으로

사랑했답니다.

하늘라나 천사들까지도 부러워할 만큼.

오직 그것만이 이유였습니다.

오래 전 바닷가 그 왕국에

한 조각 구름에서 바람이 일어

사랑스런 나의 애너벨 리를

싸늘하게 싸늘하게 만들고 만 것이죠.

그녀의 고귀한 집안 사람들이 몰려와

그녀를 데리고 가고

그 바닷가 왕국의 한 무덥 속에

그녀를 가두어 버렸답니다.

우리의 행복 그 반도 못 가진

하늘나라 천사들이 샘낸 겨였죠.

그래요, 분명 그 때문이었어요.

-바닷가 왕국에선 다 알다시피-

밤 사이 구름에서 바람 일어나

애너벨 리를 싸늘하게 숨지게 한 것은

그러나 우리 사랑은

우리보다 나이 많은 사람들의 사랑보다

우리보다 현명한 사람들의 사랑보다

훨씬 더 강했답니다.

그래서 하늘의 천사들까지도

바다 밑 지옥의 악마들까지도

어여쁜 애너벨 리의 영혼으로부터

나의 영혼을 갈라놓진 못했답니다.

달빛이 비칠 때면

아름다운 애너벨 리의 꿈이

내게 찾아들고

별들이 떠오르면

애너벨 리의 빛나는 눈동자를

나는 느낀답니다.
