장희빈의 삶과 죽음

춤이란 단지 동작들의 나열만은 아니다. 깊게 내뱉는 숨에 사상이 담겨 있고 철학이 스며 있으며 인생이 녹아 있다. 이 작품은 조선왕실을 뒤흔들었던 장희빈이라는 여인에 초점을 맞춘 한국적 현대무용이다. 시간과 공간, 기억과 추억을 접목시켜 생과 사의 벽을 넘은 인생여정에 초점을 맞추고 있다. 흘러간 역사는 잃어버린 과거 속에 생존했던 이들의 삶을 복원하여 오늘의 삶에 반추해보는 데 있다. 동서고금을 막론하고 인간의 본질을 드러낸 인물들은 현재를 살아가는 우리들에게 시대를 뛰어넘는 공감을 갖게 한다.

Life and Death of Jang Hui-bin

Dance is not just a series of moves. There are contained a dancer’s thought, philosophy, and life in his or her deep breath that occurrs while dancing. This work is a modern Korean dance focused on the woman of Jang Hui-bin who swayed the Joseon Royal Household. Combining time and space and memory and reminiscence it represents the life of a women that transcended life and death. The purpose of the study of history lies in reflecting on our life today by reviving the life of those who lived in the past. Regardless of the East or the West and the past or the present, those who revealed the nature of human beings get sympathy from the current people beyond the times.
