제 2차 세계대전 당시 세균 병기의 위력을 확신한 일본군 이시이군의 중장이
관동군의 만주 지배를 발판으로 세균전 연구를 자행한 곳.
세균 병기를 개발하기 위해 페스트, 탄저, 콜레라와 같은 치사율도 높고 전염성도
높은 강한 세균을 연구 대상으로 일제에 대항한 독립 투사들과 많은 포로들에게
자행, 9년(36년~45년)간 약 3천명 이상의 마루타가 독가스, 동사 실험, 세균 실험
대상으로 사라지며 실험 보고서에 기록되었다.

In the World War Ⅱ, the place where the Japanese military Isii’s lieutenant
general committed the research about biological warfare.
To develop bacteriological weapon, high-lethality and epidemic bacteria like
the pest, cholera, or Bacillus anthracis as a research target, practiced to
Korean leaders of national independence movement who fought against
Japan, and many other countries’ people who caught as war prisoners.
For 9 years (1936~1945), more than 3000 Marutas disappeared as a
experiment target for poison gas, death from cold, or bacteria experiment,

마루타란 무엇인가
What is ‘Maruta’?
마루타란 1936년에서 1945년 여름까지 일본 관동군 만주 제 731부대에 의해 희생된 한국인,
중국인, 만주인, 몽고인, 러시아인등 전쟁포로 및 그 외 구속된 자(독립투사 등)로 약 3천여명 이상의 마루타 즉 '통나무'란 뜻으로 생체 실험 대상자를 말한다.
마루타에게는 특별한 것들이 있다.
‘Maruta’ means the people who sacrificed to Japanese 731corps from 1936 to 1945,
used as living materials for brutal experiments. People were usually Korean, Chinese,
Mongolian, Russian and the other countries’ war prisoners. ‘Maruta’ means ‘a log’.
There are special things to Maruta.
첫째, 마루타는 인간의 이름이 필요치 않다.
단지, 세자리의 번호로 구분되는 생체실험의 재료를 의미한다.
First, Maruta doesn’t need human name. Merely, it means the materials for living body
experiment distinguished by three-digit number.
둘째, 마루타에게는 최고의 식사가 제공된다. 매끼마다 영양만점의 음식에 디저트,

Second, Marutas are provided the best meals. At every meal, they served the nutritious
foods with deserts, and vitamins. They were reared like mice in the laboratory

셋째, 마루타는 소약한 체력을 하루라도 빨리 회복하여 실험재료가 되기 위해 건강한 육체를

이것이 바로 악명 높은 "다나까회의"이다.

동북 3성을 최종 지배하기 위하여 일본 군국주의자들은 동북에서 무단으로 시비를 걸고
동북국세의 혼란을 조성.
To rule the China’s northeast 3 castles finally, Japanese militarists made quarrel and
furthered the confusion in the Northeast.
동북 침략의 구실을 만들기 위해 1928년에 장작림을 암살하는 황구툰 폭파사건을 조작하였다.
To make an excuse of invasion of Northeast,
Japan made ‘HwangGooToon blasting accident’, assassinating ‘Jang JakLim’.
1931년 9월 18일. 시기가 되었다고 스스로 느낀 일본 군국주의자들은 공공연히 중국 동북을
침략하는 "9.18" 사건을 발동하였다.
On September 18th, 1931, Japanese militarists who felt that the time came,

일본군이 하얼빈을 점령한 이듬해에 일본 참모본부는 도쿄의 세균연구기지를 하얼빈으로
비밀리에 이전하기로 결정하고 남강구 선화가와 문묘가 일대에 "이시이 부대" 라고 이름지은 세균부대 본부를 설치하였다.
A year after when Japanese military captured the Haul Bin, Japanese General staff office
decided to move bacteria experiment base from Tokyo to Haul Bin secretly,
and established the head office called ‘Isii corps’ near the Nam Gang Gu.
하얼빈에서 70Km 떨어진 배음하에다 세균 시험공장 건설이 부대의 안전과 비밀을 절대적으로 보장하기 위해 대외로 이 부대를 "관동군 방역급수부" 또는 "가무부대" "석정부대"라고
속칭하였다.
They established the bacteria test-center, far away from the Haul Bin for 70km, at the Bae-eumHa. To keep the secret of the corps, they called commonly this corps ‘Kamu corps’ or ‘SukJung corps’.

In 1935, the prison breaking accident occurred in this center, and embarrassed Isii Siro
moved test center to the south of Haul Bin square district secretly.
이로부터 평방지구는 말 그대로 "식인마굴"로 전락되었다.
From this time, the square district ruined to the ‘den of cannibalism’ literally.
1935년에 石井四郞은 평방역 북쪽 4Km 지역을 최적지로 지정하고 6㎢ 지역의 민간인들을

밤에 낮을 이어 세균시험공장을 건설케 하였는데 수없이 많은 노무자들이 기아와 피로를
못 이겨 생명을 잃었고, 공정이 거의 끝날 무렵 비밀 공정에 참여한 노무자는 모두 비밀리에
살해 되었다. 이곳을 중심으로 731부대는 120㎢의 평방지구를 특별 군사구역으로 정하였다.
At the same time, the Japanese military and a stooge government mobilized millions of
workers by force and forced them to establish a bacteria test center.
Thousands of workers died because of the fatigue and starvation and survived workers
also assassinated secretly after establishment.

731corps proceeded not only bacteria experiment, but also poison gas experiment.
They dispatched Japanese poison gas 516coprs directly and made them establish facilities.
731부대는 세균실험 시 늘 대비방법으로 실험을 진행하였다.

주 방법으로는 주사시험, 주사기로 세균을 근육에 주입 후 병변반응을 관찰했다.

room after the experiment.

동상실험 역시 731부대의 인체실험 중 제일 잔혹한 일종이다.
The frostbite experiment is also one of the cruelest experiments of 731corps.
동상연구 목적은 관동군이 중국동북 추운 지방 에서의 작전의 수요이며 또한 소련과의 전쟁을 대비해서이다.
The purpose of frostbite experiment was for the Gwandong district military scheme
and also, to prepare for the war with Soviet Union.
부대 안에 냉동 실험실을 건설한 731부대는 여름에도 냉동실험을 할 수 있게 되었다.
Established refrigeration laboratory in the base, 731corps became able to experiment in the summer too.
자료에 따르면 731부대 동상연구원들은 피 실험대상을 혹독한 겨울에 알몸 혹은 얇은 옷
한 겹만 입은 채로 밖에서 냉동시켰고 여름이면 사람을 냉동실에 넣어 실험하였다.
According to the data, 731corps’ frostbite experimenters froze people without clothes in the freezing winter, and in the summer, experimenters froze people in the refrigerators.
일정하게 냉동되었을 때 사람을 다른 곳으로 들어다 부동한 방법으로 해동시켰는데
때로는 냉수를 붓고 때로는 온수에 담그며 때로는 뜨거운 물에 녹였다.
When Marutas froze regularly, experimenters thawed Marutas.
Sometimes they poured cold water; sometimes they put Marutas in the warm water,
and sometimes in the hot water.
피실험자들은 극도로 고통스러워하며 그 자리에서 죽든지 혹은 살과 피부가 부패되고 흰 뼈가 보일 정도였다.
Marutas suffered extremely, died immediately, or skins and fleshes rotted
until one could see white bones.
병리적 실험수요를 위해 그들은 피 실험대상의 동상상처에 각종 약을 발라 병변 과정을
관찰하였다.
For pathological experiment demands, they putted various kinds of medicines on hurts and observed process.
수없이 많은 실험대상자들이 이렇게 비인간적인 잔인한 실험 속에서 사망되었다.
Thousands of Marutas died from these inhuman, brutal experiments.
수많은 실험을 통하여 731부대는 섭씨 37도의 온수에 담그었을 때 동상치료 효과가 제일
좋았다는 결론을 얻었다.
Through many experiments, 731corps concluded that it is the most effective to treat
frostbite when put in the warm water, 37 degree Celsius.
6. 특별 수송
6. A special transport
모든 피 실험대상들을 731부대에서 모두 "마루타" (일본어 "나무몽둥이"란 뜻)라고 불렀고
이 마루타들을 실험재료로 내키는 대로 살해하였다.
731corps called all experimented people as ‘Maruta’ (in Japanese meaning ‘a tree club’), and they killed Marutas when they felt like to do.
피 실험대상자들은 모두 특별수송수단으로 731부대의 특별감옥으로 합송되었다.
All of the Marutas transported to 731coprs’ special prison by ‘special transport means’.
소위 "특별수송" 이란 "마루타" 와 같은 뜻으로서 731부대의 전문용어이며 "특별수송"의 뜻인,즉 731부대로 "마루타"를 운송한다는 것이다.
What is called ‘special transport’ means same with ‘Maruta’, and is terminology of 731corps. ‘Special transport’ means moving Marutas to 731corps.
"마루타"의 절대다수는 일본관동군 하얼빈헌병대.
Most of Marutas were Haul Bin military police that transported to 731corps endlessly.
수많은 국제 반제국주의 멤버와 항일분자들이 체포된 후 모두 "특별수송" 수단으로 731부대에 보내 각종 실험을 받으며 참혹히 살해되었다.
Many anti-imperialists and people who resisted to Japan arrested, transported by
‘special transport’ to 731corps, and miserably killed through experiments.
부대로 "마루타"를 압송할 때, 때로는 기차로 때로는 731부대가 자체개발조립 한 특별자동차를 이용했고 사람들이 눈치차릴까봐 늘 "마루타"에게 일본군복을 입혔으며, 731부대 도착후 즉시 특별 감옥인 7호, 8호 두 건물로 압송하였다.

731부대는 대규모 세균전쟁을 준비하기 위해 페스트균에 대한 연구 외에도 상한, 콜레라, 탄저, 홍역 등 몇 십 종의 전염병균도 연구하였는데 그 생산 능력과 수량이 많기도 사람을 놀라게 할 정도이다.

전대원의 증언에 따라 18명이 150개 석유통에 벼룩을 번식시켜 배양한 900cc벼룩과 200마리

One of the worker of 731corps said that to gain louses, 731corps caught old workers in the dark room and made them unable to change their clothes from winter to summer,
so the louses could increase.
그리고 흰옷을 입은 일본인이 매일 와서 이를 일정수량씩 거두러 갔다.

궁극적으로 세균무기를 사용하기 위해 731부대는 실험실내에서 세균무기를 실험하였을 뿐만 아니라 야외에서도 종종 실험하였다.

the laboratory, but also at the fields.
그들은 동북의 동녕, 경동, 도돈소, 아성, 안달 및 그 부근 3Km 떨어진 성라구등 여러곳에 많은 야외 실험장을 만들어 늘 활인(산사람) 야외실험을 하였다.
They established many field sites in the Dong-Nyeong, Kyeong-Dong, Do-Donso, Asung, Andal and neighboring sites. Of course, they always experimented with living people,
Maruta.
10. 세균전

731부대는 중국침략 일본작전을 협력하며 여러 차례 "원정대" "음모파괴반"을 조직하여 전쟁에 가담하였으며 중국의 많은 지방에서 세균무기를 사용해 수많은 중국군민을 살해하였다.
731corps, allied with Japanese military and Japanese scheme,
organized many expeditions and assisted to the warfare.
They killed thousands of Chinese soldiers with bacteriological weapons.
전쟁 중 그들은 대량 세균폭탄을 발사하였고 전쟁에서 패하여 철수할 때 하라하강의 상류에
세균을 살포하여 수원을 오염시켰다.
During the warfare, they discharged a large quantity of bacteriological bombs and even
when they were withdrawing from the warfare, they scattered bacteria at the upper stream of Harahan river and infected a riverhead.
그 결과 많은 소련과 몽골 군인들이 중독되었고 가축들이 대량 죽어 소련,몽골군이 막대한
손실을 보게 되었다.
As a result, many Soviet Union’s and Mongol’s soldiers were infected and large quantities of livestock were died.
1940년 10월 27일에는 731부대와 남경 1644 세균전부대가 협력하여 녕파지구에 페스트균을
대량 살포하여 녕파지구는 적어도 106명이 페스트에 감염되어 사망하였다.
On the October 27th, 1940, alliance of 731corps and Nanjing 1644 bacteria corps scattered the Pest in the NyeongPa district, thus at least, 106 people were infected and died.
1942년 8월 원정대원들은 머리에 방호마스크를 쓰고 몸에 방역복장을 차린 채 절강 이오현
승산촌에 들어가 그 마을에 사는 이취봉의 병균에 감염된 며느리를 마을 밖으로 강제로 끌고
가서 그 자리에서 복부를 해부하고 내장을 꺼내 세균전염효과를 검사하였다.
According to the one old man ‘Jeon GuiBub’, in August, 1942, members of expedition
wearing protection masks and clothes entered to the village, took out an infected woman who was a daughter in law of Lee QuiBong, dissected her body at the site, and took out
her internal organs to examine the effect of bacterial infection.
1941년 봄에 731부대 제2부 부장인 대좌가 원정대를 인솔하여 호남상주지구에 서역벼룩을
공중 살포하여 중국인 400여명을 살해 하였다.

이시이 시로는 일면으로는 남아서 지킬 인원을 선발(다시 돌아 올 것을 대비)하고 일면으로는 죄행을 없애기 위해 시설을 폭발시키고 조증을 소각시켰으며 감옥에 감금중인 최후 400여명의 설험대기자들을 독가스로 살해한 뒤 시체를 사전에 파놓은 8개 구덩이에 끌어다 휘발유를 뿌려 불태워 버렸다.
On the one side, Isii Siro selected some people (to prepare for return) who would remain and protect the site, and on the other side, he detonated the base in order to eradicate
their brutality.
He also burned the data, killed 400 people who survived until the last with poison gas,
dragged their bodies into the 8 hollows and burned them.
불에 탄 시체를 당장 묻어버리기도 하고 포대(마대)에 담아 송화강 물속에 던지기도 하였다.

우리 측 입장에서 봤을 땐 사람을 대상으로 그런 비인간적인 실험을 한 일본이나 세계평화라는 허울좋은 이름을 내걸고 응징하러 왔다가 어부지리로 실험결과들을 가로챈 미국이나 그 밥에 그 나물입니다.
In our view, Japan that committed inhuman experiment with living human and U.S.A.,
that came to punish hanging out seemingly perfect just cause, but snatched the outcomes of experiments, are all same.
유태인들이 과거의 비극을 기억하는 이유는 잊지 않기 위해서입니다.
The reason that Jews remember the tragedy of past is to not to forget.
우리는 유태민족의 이야기에서 우리들이 가져야 할 자세를 배워야 합니다.
