↗Dog Markets and Dog slaughter Please add your voice to our protest. Instead of making a law that prohibits the consumption of dog/cat meat, the Korean government is planning to hygienically control dog meat. Such a policy will give a sense of legitimacy to this vile trade and result in even more dogs and cats being slaughtered in agony behind the doors of slaughterhouses. We request that the Korean President should end the policy to legalize dog meat (hygienic control of dog meat). Instead we ask that the President should promote the legislation that bans the slaughter of dogs and cats for food/medicine and prohibits the consumption of dog/cat meat. ★There will be so many positive changes when Korea expels dog and cat consumption: 1. No more unhygienic and disgusting food. 2. No more cruel slaughter of dogs and cats. 3. No more pollution of the environment from dog meat trade. 4. Korean children will learn the value of loving animals. 5. Korea will become a more peaceful society. 6. Korea will no longer be viewed as a country of animal abusers. 7. Koreans and the international community will welcome Korea as a country that protects and loves animals. 8. Less geriatric disease. Good news for public health. 9. Progressive young Koreans will support the government. 10. Korea's image will improve and Korea's future generation will benefit from the change. ★Why should the Korean government ignore a policy that brings so many positive changes? Hygienic control of dog meat will result in criticism that the Korean government is encouraging the slaughter of dogs, animals most beloved by Koreans who value trust and friendship. It will break the hearts of animal lovers within Korea and abroad. It will encourage the consumption of even more dogs & cats and will create misery to even more companion animals. Such a policy will worsen Korea's already tainted image and further spread geriatric disease due to fraudulent health myths. It is easier and requires less public resources to put a stop to the dog & cat meat trade. The costs and dangers to regulate this fraudulent industry are too great. The Korean government is ill-prepared to meet this challenge. It is not worth pleasing a minority of dog eaters and illegal dog meat traders at the expense of millions of Korean people and animals. We request that the President rethink his opinion. ★To SIGN the petition: http://www.koreananimals.or.kr
