대지가 아직 평평했고

하나의 큰 머리에서 나온 두개의 얼굴을 가지고 있었어
So they could watch all around them
그래서 그들은 모든 주위를 한꺼 번에 볼 수 있었고
As they talked while they read
읽으면서 동시에 말할 수 있었지
And they never knew nothing of love
그 때 그들은 사랑에 대해선 아무것도 몰랐어

Now there was three sexes then
그 때는 세 개의 性이 있었는데,
One that looked like two men glued up back to back
하나는 두 남자가 등이 붙은것 같은 모양으로
They called the children of the sun
태양의 아이라고 불렸었지
And similar in shape and girth was the children of the earth
지구의 아이 역시 비슷한 모양과 사이즈 였는데
They looked like two girls rolled up in one
두 여자가 하나로 합쳐진 모습이었어
And the children of the moon
그리고 달의 아이들은
Looked like a fork shoved on a spoon
숫가락에 포크가 겹쳐진 모양으로
They was part sun, part earth,
한쪽은 태양 한쪽은 지구
Part daughter, part son
즉, 한쪽은 딸 한 쪽은 아들이었어

Now the gods grew quite scared of our strength and defiance
어느날 신들은 인간의 힘과 반항성에 꽤나 겁을 먹게 되었지.
And Thor said,
그때, 토르신이 말했어.
“I’m gonna kill them all with my hammer like I killed the giants”
"내가 거인족을 죽였던 것 처럼, 내 망치로 전부 몰살시키리라."
But Zeus said,
그러자, 제우스가 말했지
"No, You better let me
"아냐, 내게 맡겨
Use my lightning like scissors
내가 고래의 발을 자르고 공룡을 잘게 썰어 도마뱀을 만든 것 처럼
like I cut the legs off the whales dinosaurs into lizards.”
내 번개를 가위처럼 써줄테니까.
"And then he grabbed up some bolts
그러더니 벼락을 몇개 집어들고
He let out a laugh
큰 웃음 한번 내 뱉고는
Said,
이렇게 말했어.
“I’ll split them right down the middle gonna cut them right up in half.”
"딱 중간을 쪼개 주리라."
And the storm clouds gathered above
그리고는 폭풍이 하늘위에 모이더니
Into great balls of fire
거대한 불덩이가 되었어
And then fire shot down from the sky in bolts
그리고 불이 벼락이 되어 하늘로 부터 쏘아졌지
Like shining blades of a knife
마치 빛나는 칼날 처럼
And it ripped right through
찢고 뜯어 버린거야
the flesh of the children of the sun and the moon and the earth
그 불이 태양과 달과 지구의 아이들의 살을
And some Indian god
그리고 어떤 인도의 신은
Sewed the wound up to a hole
그 상처를 구멍이 되도록
Pulled around to our bellies
꿰메어 배쪽으로 당겨서 옮겨놓아
To remind us of the price we pay
우리가 치룬 댓가를 언제나 기억할 수 있게 했지

커다란 폭풍우와 파도를 몰고와
