때론, 같은 말을 쓰는 사람보다 다른 말을 쓰는 사람과 더 말이 잘 통할 때가 있다.

우리 회사 페인트 하청사인 Tahir를 만나서,

제품 선적을 기다리면서 마시는 차이 티 한잔에 계속 되는 이야기에

나는 정신없이 돌아가는 시간이 잠시 멈추고,

어렸을 적 좋아하던 오래된 역사책과 지리 부도

한권을 꺼내서 읽는 즐거움을 여기서 느낄 수 있다.

아울러, 이 사람을 통해

내가 그동안 갖고 있던 Bangladesh에 대한 편견이,

얼마나 의미없는 우물안 개구리의 생각이었다는 것을 깨닫게 되면서

늘 국제화 되있고 트여있다고 생각한 내 자신이 부끄러워진다.

가끔은 일 문제로 싸우긴 하지만,

오늘 같이 정신 없는 날이면, Tahir사무실에서 마시는 달콤한 챠이 티 한잔이 그립다.

You may not know how I liked you and your place,

that we were drinking Sulemani and talking about the history and civilization.
