오늘은 MOLOKO에 대해서......
MOLOKO의 이야기는 1994년 영국 Sheffield의 어느 파티에서 시작 된다. 당시 실력있는 mixer이자 producer인 Mark Brydon 에게 아일랜드 출신의 무명 여가수 Roisin Murphy가 다가와
" Do you like my tight sweater? See how it fits my body."
요런 저돌적인(?) 이야길 했고 둘은 곧바로 가까워 졌고 이렇게 MOLOKO란 댄스 팝 듀오의 역사가 시작된다. 그들의 1995년에 선보인 1집 이름이<Do You Like My Tight Sweater?> 입니다...ㅋㅋㅋ이 앨범에선 싱글 Fun For Me 가 히트, 출사표를 던짐!
2집 앨범 <I Am Not A Doctor>(1998)에 실렸던 싱글 Sing It Back 은 99년 브릿어워드 single of the year 에 노미네이트 되는 커다란 성공을 거둔다. 그 인기는 대서양 건너 미국 시장도 흔들어 놓아 빌보드 클럽 차트 1위에 등극 한다.
2000년 <Things to Make and Do> 앨범에서 The Time Is Now, Pure Pleasure Seeker, Indigo 등이 연달아 히트되며 그들의 인기는 식을 줄 모르는것 같았다.
그러나 아쉽게도 2002년 네번째 공식 앨범인 <Statues>를 끝으로 둘 사이에 이상이
생기고 결국 그룹 해산으로 이어졌다......
오늘은 처음으로 내가 싸이월드 배경음악으로 우현히도 고르게된 노래를 들어보도록하자.
