술집 단속, 중국 매춘여성 추방…
아프간 정부는 최근 외국에서 들어온 쾌락 문화가 이슬람 문화에 해악을 끼친다며 술집과 성매매 여성을 단속하기 시작했다. 인구 400만명의 수도 카불에선 경찰이 2주 전 현지인에게 술을 판 음식점과 상점 10여곳을 급습, 수천개의 술병을 압수하고 깨뜨렸다. 지난 5월 말에는 성매매 혐의가 있는 100여명의 중국 여성들을 체포해 7명을 추방했다.

Over 100 Chinese women flee to Lahore
ISLAMABAD, June 27: More than a hundred Chinese women working in a dozen massage parlours in Islamabad and Rawalpindi have moved to Lahore, a reasonably safer abode, following threats to their lives after the abduction of nine Chinese citizens by the Lal Masjid brigade.
The Lal Masjid brigade - a group of Islamabad-based Jamia Hafsa students and clerics who have launched a drive to implement Shariah in the country - had abducted nine Chinese citizens, six of them women, on June 22 from a massage parlour in the posh F- 8/3 sector of the capital by accusing them of indulging in ‘objectionable activities’.

Chinese in the sex industry have developed a cunning ability to recognize areas where the demand for sex far outstrips the supply.

Sexual relations between two consenting adults were not a crime in Pakistan before 1979. Only the involvement of minors in prostitution was prohibited by law. Later the Zina Ordinance was enacted and extramarital sex became a criminal offence. Thousands of prostitutes were allowed to relocate towards residential areas after the red-light areas (Heera Mani) were disbanded during the era of former dictator Gen Zia-ul-Haq. This is how the ‘business’ spread like plague in the big cities. And now it has become uncontrollable.

KUWAIT: Three Chinese and three Indonesian women were arrested by residency affairs detectives on prostitution charges. A security source said Director General of Residency Affairs Investigations Department Brigadier Saud Al-Khader learned that a Chinese woman was acting as a madam for Chinese prostitutes. He also learned that they charge KD 100 per hour, and the dates are made over the internet.

15 prostitutes held: Personnel from the General Immigration Department have arrested a gang of 15 Chinese prostitutes, reports Al-Shahed daily.
The daily added, acting on a tip-off police raided several apartments, arrested the suspects and handed them over to the concerned authorities.
