I was absorbed in adapting myself to school life.(=was busy; was bent on)

6. 듣기 실력이 나빴기 때문에 토익 점수도 낮았다.
I got a bad score in the TOEIC test because my listening ability was poor.

이번 학기에 컴퓨터 필기 시험을 치뤄야 한다. I have to take a written examination of computer this term.
나는 듣기 연습을 많이 하겠다, 왜냐하면 그것은 언어 공부에 중요하기 때문에.

7. 편입제도가 바뀌어서 편입이 예전보다 더 어려워질 것이다.
Because the transference system[special admission system] has been changed, the transference[special admission] would be more difficult than before.(former가 아님.)
8. 외국인과 얘기할 때 내 목소리가 작아진다.
When I speak to a foreigner, my voice becomes lower.
외국인의 말을 거의 알아들을 수 없다. I can't understand almost what foreigners speak.
9. 책 한 권을 철저하게 읽는 것이 한 여러 권을 대충 읽는 것보다 더 낫다고 생각한다.
It would be better to read[study] one book thoroughly than (to study) many books.
작년보다 금년에 훨씬 더 많은 것을 하고 싶다.

I'm taking a business English class to prepare for a qualifying examination for business English.
13. 직업을 가지면서 공부하기 위해 야간 학교에 들어가고 싶다.
I would like to enter a night school to learn with having a job.
나는 졸업반이다. I am in the graduating class.
14. 사람들은 직원을 뽑을 때 외모를 중요시하는 경향이 있어서, 난 다이어트를 해야 한다.
People tend to make much of appearance in selecting their employees, and so I should have a nice figure.( I will have to diet to lose weight.)
15. 지난 날을 회고해보니 난 매일 늦게까지 친구들과 놀고 수업을 빼먹었다. Reflecting on my past days, I played with my friends till late at night and cut out the classes.

cf) We are to pay the fine if we don't keep the rule.(∼하기로 되어있다. be + to 원형)
나는 나의 약속에 책임을 지겠다. I will answer for my promise.
18. talk, tell, speak, say의 차이
- I feel like speaking to a foreigner, but I can't. Because I have not a courage to speak to (him or her).
- I talked with foreigners in English.
- I told him to come early.
- say + that 절, say + ".... ", say to 사람 + "..."
19. 기억력이 나쁘다[좋다]. I have a poor[good] memory.
기억력이 감퇴하다. My memory fails[ = gives out]
기억력: memory; a retentive faculty. 기억술: mnemonics.
20. 전에는 나의 무능력에 대해 우울한 기분이 들었다.
I had felt gloomy about my incompetence before.
21. 어느 대학에 가야 할 지[편입해야 할 지] 결정하지 못 했다.
I haven't decided what university to enter [transfer to] yet.
