요즘 들어서 이 음반이 내 귀에 엄청 꽂힌다. 예전에 Megadeth 오프닝으로 그들을 본적이 있었는데, 드림 시어터의 엄청난 연주,빈틈 없는 사운드,조명,건반 그에 비해 메가데스는 애들 장난이었다. 그야말로 예전에 한국에서 마이클 잭슨이 H.O.T. 오프닝 했던것과 비슷하다고나 할까.
이 Train of Thougth 음반은 Images and Words 앨범 이후로 최고로 꼽고 싶다. Awake Falling...,,앨범은 여러가지 사운드를 짜집기 느낌이 있는가 하면 Scenes from a Memory는 컨셉트 맞추기 위해 좀 지루한 면이 없지 않았나 싶다,그러나 이번 음반 만큼 첫곡에서 끝곡 까지 너무나도 완벽함 짜여짐이 느껴진다.
굉장히 어두우면서도 그야말로 새로운 면들이 많이 발견된다 .
This Dying Soul에서의 James Labrie의 새로운 면을 볼수가 있고. 그리고 Endless Sacrifice 에서는 리듬과 그들의 연주가 최고조를 이룬다.
Holy Thy Father 을 비롯한 전 앨범의 리듬 파트, 드러밍이 상당히 TOOL을 연상케 한다 (그래서 내 귀에 꽂히나?)
요즘 모든 뮤지션들이 그러듯이 Train of thought 의 가사도 전쟁과 종교의 모순점에 대해 얘기하고 있다.
곡들이 10분이 넘을정도로 길지만 그럴만한 이유가 있다 필청!!!
