A day in the life
I read the news today, oh boy,
About a lucky man who made the grade.
And though the news was rather sad,
Well I just had to laugh,
I saw the photograph.
He blew his mind out in a car,
He didn't notice that the lights had changed.
A crowd of people stood and stared,
They'd seen his face before,
Nobody was really sure if he was from the House of Lords.
I saw a film today, oh boy,
The English Army had just won the war.
A crowd of people turned away,
But I just had to look,
Having read the book,
I'd love to turn you on...
Woke up, fell out of bed, dragged a comb across my head.
Found my way down stairs and drank a cup, and looking up, I noticed I was late.
Found my coat, and grabbed my hat, made the bus in seconds flat.
Found my way up stairs and had a smoke, somebody spoke and I went into a dream.
Ah~~~~
I read the news today, oh boy,
Four thousand holes in Blackburn, Lancashire.
And though the holes were rather small,
They had to count them all,
Now they know how many holes it takes to fill the Albert Hall.

학점을 딴 운좋은 남자에 관해 말이야
기사는 다소 서글펐지만
난 웃을 수 밖에 없었어
나는 사진을 보았는데
그는 차안에서 마약에 취해 있었고
신호가 바뀐 것을 알아차리지 못했지
군중들은 멈춰서서 그를 응시했어
그들은 전에 그를 본 적이 있었는데도
누구도 그가 상원의원인지 확신하지 못했지
나는 오늘 영화를 봤어
영국 군대가 전쟁에서 이겼고
군중들은 고개를 돌렸지
하지만 난 바라 볼 수 밖에 없었어
책을 읽으면서 말이야
당신을 취하게 하고 싶어
잠에서 꺠어나 침대에서 떨어져
빗을 찾아 머리를 빗질한 뒤
아래층으로 내려가 한 컵 마시고는
내가 늦었다는걸 깨달았지
코트를 찾고 모자를 집어들고 나와서
버스 이층으로 잡아 계산한 뒤
윗층으로 올라가 담배 한 모금 태우는데
누군가가 내게 말을 건냈고 난 꿈에 빠져 들었어
나는 오늘 신문을 읽었는데
랭카셔주 블랙번에는 4천개의 구멍이 있다는군
그 구멍들은 다소 작았지만
그들은 모든 구멍을 셀 수 밖에 없어
이제 그들은 알버트 홀을 채우려면
얼마나 많은 구멍이 있어야 하는지 알아
당신을 취하게 하고 싶어
