Meet Sookmyung Gayageum Orchestra, an innovative music ensemble that combines the best of traditional Korean gayageum with a trend-oriented and modern sensibility. Since its founding in 1999 by a group of students at Sookmyung Women's University, the Orchestra has quickly risen as a leader in the contemporary Korean music scene. And this coming Dec. 9 evening at the Sejong Center, twelve gorgeous young women are reinventing the traditional Korean gayageum with a diverse and phenomenal repertoire featuring artfully arranged renditions of traditional and contemporary favorites.
