사회가 먼저인가 개인이 먼저인가 하는 문제는-

닭이 먼저냐 달걀이 먼저냐 하는 문제와 같다.

그것을 논리적인 문제로 논하든 아니면 역사적인 문제로 논하든 간에,

그에 대해 언급을 하게 되면 이렇게든 저렇게든 반대되면서

사회와 개인은 불가 분의 것이다.

이들은 서로 필요하고 상호보완하는 것이지 반대되는 것이 아니다.

is like the question about the hen and the egg.

Whether you treat it as a logical

of as a historical question,

you can make no statement about it,

this way or the other,

which does not have to be corrected

by an opposite, and equally one-sided, statement.

Society and the individual are inseparable;

they are necessary and complementary to each other,

not opposites.
