Founded in 2001, Hong Kong Airlines was established and registered as a commercial airline based in Hong Kong. In 2003, Hong Kong Airlines introduced the CRJ200 and CRJ700 fixed-wing aircrafts manufactured by Canadian manufacturer Bombardier.
To stay competitive and benefit from the economies of scale, Hong Kong Airlines has been steadily upgrading her fleet size by acquiring larger and newer aircrafts. In 2006, Hong Kong Airlines took delivery of her first dry-leased 737-800 manufactured by Boeing and launched a number of domestic routes including Changsha and Tianjin. Planned for the latter part of 2006, Hong Kong Airlines will open up new domestic routes to Chengdu, Xian, Nanjing, Fuzhou, along with international routes to Seoul, Taegu and Pusan in South Korea as well as other Southeast Asian routes.
