일본에는 자주 가셨던 여왕님들.

내가 생각해도 일본은, 특히나 일본의 여성들은 대체 무슨 이유로 퀸의 1집에 그렇게 열광했는지 알수가 없다.

공항에 나와 반기는 것도 전부 처자이고 공연장도 유럽투어와는 달리 처자들이 하이톤으로 열광한다.

남자팬들이 우워워~~~하는 로우 톤으로 맞아줬다면 몰라도.

그래서 내가 내린 결론은 아마도 일본의 여성적인 취향때문이기도 하거니와

당시 전국공동투쟁이라는 학생운동이 휩쓸고 간 젊은이들의 자리에 필요한건 현실을 잊게 해줄 아름다운 광대들이었고, 마침 당시 요정을 노래하고 비현실을 노래하던 퀸이 나왔다.

비현실의 정점을 찍은건 프레디 머큐리의 성별을 알수없는 목소리와 화음.  

그리고 결정적으로 분장을 하지 않아도 화알짝 만개한 미모의 로저옹이 있었던 것이다!!!!!!

남성과 여성의 구분이 없어진 존재를 최고의 미인으로 칭송하는 일본적 정서상 아주 자알 맞는 밴드가 아니었던가.

.....이렇게라도 생각하지 않으면, 대체 일본은 퀸 1집의 무엇에 열광했는지

내 짧은 음악적 소양으로는 이해할 수가 없다.

싹을 봤을까? 그랬다면 난 일본인들의 혜안을 존경할테야....

한국 공연도 계획은 하고 있었고 로저옹과 존 디콘 옹께서 다녀가셨다.

다만 퀸의 대표곡들이 모조리 금지곡이라서, 대체 뭔 노래를 하면서 두시간을 때워야 하는지 

그것이 문제였기에 서둘러 떠나셨다.

공산권인 헝가리에서도 공연을 했으나 민주주의라는 대한민국에선 앨범조차 팔 수 없었다니, 아는사람이 더 무섭단 말이 여기에도 적용된다.
