이 노래는 플라톤의 &#-9;향연&#-9;에서 모티브를 얻은 노래라 한다.

편견에 대해, 사랑에 대해 생각해보면서

&#-9;정말 중요한 것은 눈에 보이지 않아&#-9;

지구가 아직 평평하던 때
불구름이 떠다니고
하늘까지 솟은 산과
더 높은 산이 있고
사람들은 커다란 나무통처럼 지구를 굴러다니며 배회했어.

두 쌍의 팔
두 쌍의 다리와
큰 머리 양 쪽에 두 개의 얼굴을 가지고 있었어
양 쪽 세상도 다 볼 수 있었고
읽으면서 말할 수 있었고
사랑이란 단어조차 몰랐어

그 것은 아직 사랑이 생겨나기 이전의 이야기.

One that looked like two men

그 땐 3개의 성이 있었지
하나는 두 남자가
등이 붙은 것 같은 모양의 태양의 아이

And similar in shape and girth
Was the children of the Earth
They looked like two girls
Rolled up in one
그리고 비슷한 모양과 사이즈의

두 여자아이의 등이 붙어 하나로 된 지구의 아이들과

And the children of the moon were like a fork shoved on a spoon

They were part sun, part earth

Part daughter, part son

포크와 스푼이 겹쳐진 것 같은 같은

한쪽은 태양 한쪽은 지구

즉 한쪽은 딸, 한쪽은 아들인 달의 아이들이 있었지

Now the gods grew quite scared
Of our strength and defiance
어느 날 신들은 인간의 힘과 반항성을 두려워 하기 시작했지

And Thor said
"I&#-9;m gonna kill them all with my hammer
Like I killed the giants"
But Zeus said
"No, you better let me
Use my lighting like scissors
Like I cut the legs off the whales
Dinosaurs into lizards"

그 때, Thor(천둥)신은 말했어.
"내 망치로 거인족을 죽였듯 모두 몰살 시키리라"
그러자 제우스가 말했지
"내가 고래의 발을 자르고 공룡을 잘게 썰어 도마뱀을 만든 것 처럼

내 번개를 가위처럼 써줄테니까"

And then he grabbed up some bolts
He let out a laugh
Said, "I&#-9;ll split them right down the middle

Gonna cut them right up in half."

그리고는 번개를 몇개 꺼내
크게 웃으며
."가운데를 자르리, 딱 반으로..."라고 했지

And then storm clouds gathered above
Into great balls of fire
And then fire shot down
From the sky in bolts
Like shining blades of a knife
And it ripped right through

the flesh of the children of the sun
And the moon And the earth

곧 먹구름이 모여 거대한 불이 되었고
천둥번개가 하늘에서 내리쳤지
번뜩이는 칼날처럼
육체의 한 가운데를 갈라버렸어
해의 아이들 달의 아이들 땅의 아이들 차례로...

And some Indian god
Sewed the wound up to a hole
Pulled around to our bellies
To remind us of the price we pay
And Osiris and the gods of the Nile
Gathered up a big storm
To blow a hurricane
To scatter us away

어떤 인도 신은

배 둘레를 꿰매 배꼽을 만들어 우리 죄를 상기시켰고

그리고 오시리스와 나일강의 신들은 커다란 폭풍우를 몰고와

태풍을 불게하여

우리를 뿔뿔이 흩어지게, 바람과 비의 폭풍속으로

조수의 파도가 넘치는 바다로 우리 전부 쓸려 나가게 했어

만약 또 다시 반항하면 또 다시 반을 갈라버린다고 했지
그럼 한 발로 뛰고

한 눈으로 볼 거라며...
