지난달, 우리는 어떤 종교집단과 관련이 많은 어떤 해운사의 배가 침몰하여 300의 목숨을 잃는 비극적인 사고를 겪었습니다.

그 와중에서도 우리는 귀중한 인간성을 보게 되었고요.

전설속의 고다이바 부인은 16세에 폭정을 일삼는 영주에게 정략결혼으로 팔려가게 됩니다.

그리고 그녀는 수탈당하는 양민들을 위해 남편에서 세금을 낮출 것을 애원하지만, 그녀의 남편은 그녀에게 "네가 홀딱 벗고 시내를 말타고 일주하면 한번 고려해 보겠다" 고 비웃습니다.

고심하던 그녀는 어느날 실제로 그 일을 했으며, 마을 주민들은 이 영예로운 아가씨의 명예를 지키기 위해 거리를 내다 보지 않았다는 것, 그것이 고다이바의 전설입니다.

세월호에서 사람을 살린 것은 그 잘나빠진 종교도 그 종교이 신도들도 아니었던 22세의 어린 승무원이었고, 자신의 구명조끼를 승객들에게 주어 살게 하고 자신은 목숨을 잃었습니다.

그 고결함이 마치 남존여비의 시대에 정략결혼에 팔려 갔어도 그 자신의 처지보다는 다른 고통받는 이들을 위해 귀족 부인으로서 생명과 같은 명예를 희생한 고다이바의 전설과 같다고 생각하기에 이 곡을 올립니다.

그리고 그들의 천국이 기만과 거짓 안에 세워진 것이라면 반드시 불탈 것이라는 메시지 역시도 .
