1020 this is an ambitious project that will accommodate 1,000 students who live in a new settlement in La Molina, located in the desert

strip near Peru's capital city, Lima, The first phase, catering for children aged between three and seven, demonstrates the basic strategy

for the future completion of the masterplan.

Taking its form from the elope of the topography, which falls towards the northeast, the plan is dominated by classrooms laid out diagonally

in a staggered arrangement along the slope.

All the classrooms face north towards the sun, and have a shaded terrace and a small garden. Each one is entered from the shady south side,

via a ramped pedestrian street that links the classrooms to a public space.

This forms the first part of a pedestrian urban spine that will connect the whole complex from north to south.

A general-purpose and staff building defines the south side of the square.

The administration block, close to the north entrance of the complex, is more formal than the other buildings, with a double-height,

balconied hall that has a curved glass wall looking south over the pedestrian spine.
