There is a German legend that tells of a baron who built his castle on the Rhine. One quiet and lonely day he hung wires from pole to pole and tower to tower, and he hoped that the wind, as it caught the wires and converted them into an Aeolian harp, might make sweet music and lessen his loneliness. The baron waited patiently every day for his beautiful music. Every day the soft breezes blew from the four corners of the castle, and he was disappointed that there was no music from the wires.
Then one night a hurricane charged in, tossing the Rhine into a fury. The lightening pierced the black night and the thunder shook the land with its uproar. The winds seemed to go mad. The baron suddenly heard the sound of what seemed angels' music. As he listened with awe, he realized that his harp had come to life at last. The Aeolian harp was filling the air with sounds that rang out even above the thunder. It needed the storm to bring out the music!
Human life works on exactly the same principle. Just as the storm brings out the music, the trials of life cause to us sing, rather than break us. Times of great calamity and confusion, when handled in the correct way, can produce tremendous results beyond our imagination. If we never go through any trials, we will never change. Remember, times of turmoil and hardships are not meant to make us fall; they can be the notes that make up the symphony of our lives.
