The entire iMac has this huge protective layer on the glass. Mmmmm its so satisfying taking that stuff off.
:::: Comment I made below:
"I've said this a couple times now, but I'd say a group of mac users [made up of more than one by a bunch] are glad to see Apple move on from the white-thing. The white was getting old, outdated, overused, cliche. Engadget said it best when they said "Apple is learning that they have to stop making all of their products look like a huge overgrown iPod." And it's true. Once you own one of these, you realize that the white was fun and cool or whatever -- but it wasn't actually helpful for your experience with the computer. The white always made the computer seem "HEY. I'm WHITE. Look at ME." In reality, you want a computer to recede while your content and work come forward. This is the same reason why most HDTV's are black, or have black borders followed by a silver trim. The black border gives your eye buffer zone to stay within the image, while the silver trim gives your eye an edge to stay within the picture with. The iMac reproduces this effect greatly, and looks much better when turned off.
You can't say that this thing looks like an HP or Dell product -- Dell has tried to make all-in-one systems, and we know how badly [and ridiculously expensive] that turned out. And really, HP acts more like Apple does than the other way around. Ever notice how a majority of HP's products became white and silver for a time? Just as well -- Gray/Silver and Black have been Sony's flagship colors for decades, yet the iMac still resembles an unmistakable apple product, just as much as the Black MacBook, or the aluminum MacBook Pro. If Jobs wanted this to look like a dell or HP, he would have had to add a bunch of status LED's, at least one blue, and a big heat grille to the back of the iMac like monitors do. I don't see any of those things. -- I also certainly don't see that keyboard on any PC either [in the exception of those new Sony Vaio's imitating macbooks.]"
