1965년 미국 엘에이에서 결성. UCLA에서 영화를 전공하던

학생들이 조직한 4인조 록그룹. 베이시스트가 없는 특이한

구성이었음에도 Ray Manzarek의 오르간 사운드와

 Jim Morrison의 신비한 보컬능력은 팬들을 단숨에 사로잡았다.

67년 발표한 데뷔앨범 [The Doors]에서 `Light My Fire`가

대대적인 히트를 기록한 이유는 바로 이런 이유에서 였다.
이후 `L.A. Woman`, `Roadhouse Blues`, `Riders on the Storm`

등의 히트곡을 계속 내오던 이들은 1971년 7월 3일. 짐 모리슨이

27세의 짧은 나이로 약물남용으로 생을 마감하며
그가 이끌어왔던 그룹 도어즈 The Doors도 자연 해체되고 만다.
